A lot of people don't know that France is the US's oldest ally....

Trumpettes believe in Alternative Facts. When you have that, who cares about history.

maybe your supporters, dumbass but anyone who's ever picked up a history book knows. I guarantee that he didn't know. Geez. What an idiot

Well, I understand where you are going.......HOWEVER......someone could make the argument that France is our oldest "enemy", too (not counting Native tribes). Technically we weren't a nation in 1754, but the American colonists first war was against French colonists, French-allied Indians, and French-Canadians.

More than technically. Washington and many other founding fathers were members of the King's militia and fought against France-as British citizens. You're reaching.

Yes, I know I am......however, the AMERICAN-citizens (prior to independence) were enemies with France, became allies with France to gain independence, and then enemies again (research XYZ Affair and Quasi-War).........We have also fought two wars against Britain..........but to be honest, I am with those that say Britain is our biggest and longest ally because I feel they are.......share common language, heritage, etc.

Can we get a technical ruling on when the US was actually the US as you see it so we can better judge accuracy of your statement?

Well Morocco was supposedly the first country to recognize USof A in 1777 (although not formally signed-off on until 1786)...so that has to count for something right? I mean if you can't build trust on a hand-shake and a nod what can you build trust on?

nobody knows because they drop their weapons and run at the first sound of gunfire.......they've never fought us because they are skeered:uzi::gun::scream:
4.2 million dead and wounded from 1914-1918 and another 210,000 from 1940-1945 (not counting those rounded up and sent to death camps) show that's a lie. I don't know where that idea of the French as cowards came from.

It comes from what the French did during WW2. Didn't defend much agaisnt the Germans, cooperated , Vischy, with the Germans and then abandoned the fight when we marched thru Paris. Then they turned rabidly socialist and don't give a damn about anything except drinking wine.

The whole Vichy government was a black mark to be sure, but it's not accurate to say that the French took no part in their own liberation. Although de Gaulle sure did get full of himself after he became president.

de Gaulle was a pompous idiot and opporunist. He took credit fpr the liberation of France, but he did very little to support the action. Then he basically cursed the Allies on their way into Germany for marching through France. How he didn't get smacked by Patton is beyond me.
