She also trashed the NFL and MMA. Demeaning them because they are not "artists." Elite hypocrite. Celebrates Roman Polanski, the child molestor, because of his artistic talent. To heck with the 13 year old child.

I beleive the girl was pimped by her mom.

According to Geimer's testimony to the grand jury, Polanski had asked Geimer's mother (a television actress and model) if he could photograph the girl as part of his work for the French edition of Vogue,[13] which Polanski had been invited to guest-edit. Her mother allowed a private photo shoot. Geimer testified that she felt uncomfortable during the first session, in which she posed topless at Polanski's request, and initially did not wish to take part in a second, but nevertheless agreed to another shoot. This took place on 10 March 1977, at the home of actor Jack Nicholson in the Mulholland area of Los Angeles. At the time the crime was committed, Nicholson was on a ski trip in Colorado, and his live-in girlfriend Anjelica Huston who was there, left, but later returned while Polanski and Geimer were there. Geimer was quoted in a later article as saying that Huston became suspicious of what was going on behind the closed bedroom door and began banging on it, but left when Polanski insisted they were finishing up the photo shoot.[14] "We did photos with me drinking champagne," Geimer says. "Toward the end it got a little scary, and I realized he had other intentions and I knew I was not where I should be. I just didn't quite know how to get myself out of there."[15] In a 2003 interview, she recalled that she began to feel uncomfortable after he asked her to lie down on a bed, and described how she attempted to resist. "I said, 'No, no. I don't want to go in there. No, I don't want to do this. No!', and then I didn't know what else to do," she stated, adding: "We were alone and I didn’t know what else would happen if I made a scene. So I was just scared, and after giving some resistance, I figured well, I guess I’ll get to come home after this".[16]

Geimer testified that Polanski provided champagne that they shared as well as part of a quaalude,[17] and despite her protests, he performed oral, vaginal, and anal sex acts upon her,[18][19] each time after being told 'no' and being asked to stop.[12][20][21][22]

Keyser! I thought the election had killed you off. Welcome back. Looking forward to 8 great years of President Trump!

Some people don't like violence. It's not elitist, it's just pacifist.

Give me a break. People get great enjoyment out of sports. All sports, for the most part, are contact sports. Yes, the MMA and football are very aggressive, but that his not what she said. She said they weren't art. So snotty. IMO, those sports are terrific art and very entertaining. But I'm just a low life in her mind, not refined enough to understand true art. What a snob.

And the skills required to play those games dwarfs the skills required to read lines written for you by others. And in sports you don't get retakes. If Streep screws up she simply does the scene again. Sports requires mental and physical challenges, great skill and no retakes. And sports has so many more fans that Hollywood. Look snob up in the dictionary and you'll find Streep's picture.

I agree. Sport CAN be art. It can also be ugly as hell....the same with paintings, sculpture, movies, TV, literature, poetry, and life.

How can you agree with that narrow minded thinking of that fool? Fact: not all enjoy or appreciate the same things whether it is sport or art. To criticize someone on a personal perspective which is nothing more than an opinion is wrong. It is a personal opinion which is true, football and mma are not arts. If Streep wants to make that pronouncement, so what?

Ok. Can you also see that another person can see football and mma is not? Streep does not. Fine. Who is right? Answer, it is a personal perspective but there is a difference between what is commonly known as art and sport and of course they both can cross paths.

Great to have a reasonable and open minded person like you on this board. It's refreshing that you can put aside politics and not let them jaundice every comment you post.

Only in dumb Trump land does an actress need taking down, lol. What a f*cking poor excuse of a leader Trump is, no redeeming qualities I can see except the ability to rile up the rubes who still think America is run from Lamestreet USA,

Then why did she say anything? Why claim her acting is art and sports are not. She denigrated them. She's a snob. But you may not be bright enough to see that, in fact I'm pretty sure you're not.

“So, Hollywood is crawling with outsiders and foreigners. And if we kick them all out, we’ll have nothing to watch but football and mixed martial arts, which are not the arts.”

This quote shows her ignorance and elitism. Who died and left her in charge of defining art?

I agree. And I agree that the disgust of violence can disgrace the art form as well. Kind of like porn.

She may think football is not art. That is her opinion. But when she expresses that opinion to a national audience, it exposes her ignorance. She didn't say, in my opinion, football is not art. She made a declarative statement that football is not art. Again, stupid comment.

"Which is not the arts." That is declarative. No room for other opinions. Elite. Snob.

She did say THE ARTS. Technically, sport is not considered the arts.

She declaratively said football is not the arts. I disagree as do many Americans. I think MMA is an art. You don't think it is elitist to tell others what is art and what isn't?

As for your post, who definitely defined sports as not being an art? You have no basis for that statement other than your own opinion.

Let me clue you in if you don't understand. First, he is a troll that trolls this board with an agenda as he has nothing better to do. Second, he is a typical thinskinned conservative that gets his panties in a wad whenever there is something that doesn't fit his narrow minded perspective. But he has a lot of company.

And the two of you have a brain the size of a pea. When you post garbage like this, expect a strong retort (I'll define retort if you need help).

Art or not art, I don't care. What it essentially was, was a repackaged "clinging to guns and religion" and "basket of deplorables" statement. It's snooty bullshit. Doesn't register on my dial.

Yayyyyy another actor/actress has an opinion on something.

Moving on to things that matter.

THE arts is technically not the same as art. THE arts refers to subjects of creative expression.

You are looking at only one part of the definition. I trust Websters definition more than yours quite frankly. Have you ever heard the term, "Art is in the eye of the beholder."

At FAU they have the School of Arts and Letters. I agree that sport can be art....I am saying that she was referring to THE arts....which are SUBJECTS OF CREATIVE EXPRESSION! Are football or MMA subjects of creative expression?

Say's everything that you Pee Brains can get this obsessed with an actress in heels... just because she hates your golden shower coward.

Look, for the last time, she said in a denigrative fashion, that without Hollywood, people would be forced to watch MMA and football, which are not the arts.

She did not qualify her statement. She did not say it was her opinion. She said they are not the arts. She is an elitist. A snob. A know it all. And she looks down on regular Americans that appreciate the art of football or MMA. Why do you think Hollywood is held in such disdain by many Americans, because many of them look down their noses at us.

Please find a websters' definition of "the arts." You are attempting to make a distinction without a difference.
