According to Geimer's testimony to the grand jury, Polanski had asked Geimer's mother (a television actress and model) if he could photograph the girl as part of his work for the French edition of Vogue,[13] which Polanski had been invited to guest-edit. "I said, 'No, no. I don't want to go in there. No, I don't want to do this. No!', and then I didn't know what else to do," she stated, adding: "We were alone and I didn’t know what else would happen if I made a scene. So I was just scared, and after giving some resistance, I figured well, I guess I’ll get to come home after this".[16]

And the skills required to play those games dwarfs the skills required to read lines written for you by others. And in sports you don't get retakes. If Streep screws up she simply does the scene again. Sports requires mental and physical challenges, great skill and no retakes. And sports has so many more fans that Hollywood. I agree. Sport CAN be art. It can also be ugly as hell....the same with paintings, sculpture, movies, TV, literature, poetry, and life.

You are looking at only one part of the definition. I trust Websters definition more than yours quite frankly. Have you ever heard the term, "Art is in the eye of the beholder."
At FAU they have the School of Arts and Letters. I agree that sport can be art....I am saying that she was referring to THE arts....which are SUBJECTS OF CREATIVE EXPRESSION! Are football or MMA subjects of creative expression?

She did not qualify her statement. She did not say it was her opinion. She said they are not the arts. She is an elitist. A snob. A know it all. Why do you think Hollywood is held in such disdain by many Americans, because many of them look down their noses at us.
Please find a websters' definition of "the arts." You are attempting to make a distinction without a difference.
