Orange Park (Fla.) Oakleaf 2021 quarterback Walter Simmons told me that he hadn't heard anything from West Virginia prior to quarterbacks coach Sean Reagan coming to his school and watching him throw the other day. That resulted in a scholarship offer and he was initially surprised and excited. He doesn't know a whole lot yet about the school outside of what he's seen from the offense but he is looking to visit at some point. Simmons has been to Florida, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech and several other places but right now he is wide open with his recruitment. He told me that funny enough he actually began his pop warner career as a defensive end but was moved to quarterback and really has taken off over the last eight years resulting in some big time offers already. He isn't looking to make a decision until around this time next year but is coming off a campaign where he tossed for 2,200 yards and 19 touchdowns with colleges coaches interested in his play-making ability.
