Here we go again. Trump can't stand that Massie is a conservative wanting a conservative approach to spending.
Two things you will NOT hear from Democrats criticizing this "big beautiful bill"
1) They will offer nothing better most Americans want Congress to vote for
2) They will never admit we're still spending too much, even with this bill. NEVER.
It will however pass, with virtually every Democrat voting against it. It's not perfect, but it's the best we have right now. Let's pass it, and then go for more spending cuts as this economy takes off.

Nah man, this is the one and only chance. We will not have the trifecta again anytime soon. If we don't do it now, it never happens. As Massie has tried to do with each CR for years, he's tried to rename the bill to the "Kick the can down the road" bill. They've made a rule change to where he can't anymore.

I respectfully disagree with you. I do agree this bill still spends too much (they didn't touch entitlements for instance despite lies from Dems) however if we don't get it passed, then what you predict here becomes true. If the GOP still wants voters to trust them to come back next year with even more discretionary spending cuts, and perhaps finally something on entitlement reforms, they MUST pass this bill.
Failure is not an option here.
With this bill, we're closing in on $1.5 trillion in interest payments when Trump leaves office. That's a parachute we cannot overcome. Why is passing this exact bill so important? Cut the damn spending.
I agree we still need to cut spending, but making any serious dent in this debt HAS to come from entitlements. That's where the money is! However, we desperately also need tax relief, permanently! Tax cuts traditionally add revenue to the treasury in addition to jump starting this sluggish economy. We need growth...growth approaching or in excess of 4% annually. We get that with these tax cuts.
Then we can look at doing something more on discretionary spending as revenues flow into the Treasury from the tax cuts to offset the fraud & waste we're also steadily eliminating. Then the GOP has more credibility with voters to offer sensible, well thought out, passable entitlement reforms to attack the true drivers of our debt....Social Security and Medicare. That's going to take some education, and a roaring economy to convince voters it can be done.
You have to crawl before you can walk. The economy goes nowhere without the tax and regulation cuts in this bill.

It is a mess, no argument from me. We're close to fiscal insolvency and it almost seems hopeless. However there is still capacity for this economy to grow. We have literally Trillions in new investments coming in within the next year or so. Only economic growth can save us. DOGE was a great start, and they're certainly not finished finding billons in discretionary spending we can do without. That helps too. However as I said, until or unless we do something on entitlements, nothing else we do will matter. Entitlement reforms, and economic growth. That's how we get rid of this debt.
Republicans need larger majorities in Congress to both offer and pass entitlement reforms. That's the big cookie. If they can't even pass these miniscule reductions in discretionary spending along with permanent tax cuts, who's going to listen to them trying to tackle entitlements? Passing this bill assures they'll get another shot from voters in future Trump years to reform entitlements.
You're right about one thing, if we don't do this now, it'll never get done. The nation's fiscal future is hanging by a thread with this bill. If they drop the ball here, we're finished.
Social Security, Obamacare and Medicaid make up roughly 50% of the National Debt. You are correct we need growth and jobs. If you cut everyone off without creating that you will only get Civil Unrest. So it has to be done like Trump and his Administration is attempting. Not to mention it going to cost money up front to build the wall and deport criminals. The only people bitching about do it all and do it now with reforming the entitlements just want the Republicans to lose elections so the Communist can take back over.

No doubt it all needs fixed. That can't be done overnight. If people stop voting for the left and RINOS we might start making progress over the next 12 years. All while taking care of those that truly need the assistance.
I agree we need more jobs before we touch entitlements and they are the elephant. We could and should be cutting the green new deal crap.
Creating decent middle class jobs will help with entitlements so the cutting won't be so bad and may even fix itself. Until we have term limits won't be cutting entitlements that's just facts.

Everyone isn't going to get everything they want. Unfortunately some of the green new deal stuff was already started. So it's got to be phased out. But it definitely needs to go. I have Solar stuff for my camper and for emergencies. It's not all the technology of it I have a problem with. It was forcing on everyone for the Benefit of the CCP. Especially when the technology isn't even ready for primetime. Even Musk said we were stupid for not drilling more.
It's ultimately @roadtrasheer nothing but a huge fight among "uni-party" members over that big pile of money they collect from us each year, and who gets to spend it? (ie: their lobbysit friends and megadonors) I agree term limits would help solve this problem, however in my opinion we need to wean Americans off government entitlements and other "handouts" and steer them towards more self reliance and personal responsibility.
You're right, we did not get into this fiscal morass overnight, and we're certainly not going to climb out of this hole we've dug for ourselves overnight. The fact of the matter remains though that we HAVE to start somewhere. That somewhere is cutting wasteful or fraudulent spending, cutting unnecessary growth stifling regulations, and giving back to taxpayers more of what they earn paying for this giant blood sucking monstrosity called "Leviathan".

I read the Medicaid provisions in the bill. Enough lying about this. Here are the facts, please send to a leftist: 1. The work requirements that the bill is trying to implement would only apply to young able-bodied adults who have no children. 40% of Medicaid expansion recipients are 19–34, and childless. 2. The work requirement is only for 80 hours of work per month. Please read that again if you are young and able-bodied and you refuse to go to work for 80 hours a month, then I shouldn’t have to subsidize your freaking healthcare. Sorry, not sorry.3. 1.4 million illegals will be kicked off the program. That is currently how many illegals are not able to provide proof of citizenship and are still enrolled in this program that we know of.4. No more money to planned parenthood. Again, don’t force the public to pay for your abortion or your transgender cross hormone therapy drugs.5. There is a requirement for updated information to be provided twice a year so they can make sure you still qualify and don’t just collect Medicaid. And because of just that simple little task the CBO predicts that it’s possible that 7.7 million people will lose their coverage. Well then, why don’t you just have them learn some goddamn responsibility and send in the paperwork. 6. CBO (which is a disgrace now that I understand how they actually come up with numbers) predicts that 7.6M-13.7M people will lose their insurance by 2034.That includes 7.7 million people who refuse to fill out the paperwork to verify eligibility and retain benefits. 1.4 million illegals. 2.8M to 3.2M young able-bodied CHILDLESS workers who won’t be able to meet the 80 hour per month work requirement.There is not one person who can look at those set of facts and have a problem with the portions of this bill that create work requirements, eligibility verification, and the removal of illegal aliens from the Medicaid benefits.Not one. You're being obtuse MWV. See, it goes like this: In order to save money later; much, much later, we have to spend even more money now. We can't cut 70% of the NGD bullcrap. We can't cut Medicaid expansion. We can't even cut SALT out this time, even though we did before. Nope, we have to spend a shitton of money right now. It's the only way.
Hey, I've always been about cutting spending. There's plenty of waste, on BOTH sides of the aisle. We should reform welfare/Medicaid. Needs to happen, and it won't happen for obvious reasons (those people go to the polls and vote, always), neither side will touch that topic.
