MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Jan. 30, 2024) – The West Virginia University rifle team remains the No. 1 team in the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) poll, the organization announced.
The Mountaineers are a perfect 12-0 on the season including a 5-0 mark in the Great American Rifle Conference. All 12 of the Mountaineers' wins this season have come over teams ranked inside the top 16 of the poll.
West Virginia is coming off two wins, defeating both Navy and Akron on Saturday. The Mountaineers notched a 2329 in air rifle to match a program record at the event.
WVU holds the top aggregate (4742) and smallbore (2360) average in the nation. West Virginia’s average of 2382 in air rifle is second behind TCU.
No. 2 TCU, No. 3 Kentucky, No. 4 Alaska Fairbanks and No. 5 Georgia Southern round out the top-5 of the poll
WVU is back in action on Saturday, Feb. 10, when they welcome Kentucky to Morgantown for senior day at the WVU Rifle Range. The match is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. ET.
