CINCINNATI (May 4, 2024) The West Virginia University baseball team fell to Cincinnati, 10-4, Saturday at UC Baseball Stadium. The Mountaineers drop to 28-17 and 15-8 in the Big 12 while the Bearcats improve to 26-21 and 12-11 in conference play.

Senior Reed Chumley provided the only offense on the day for WVU as he went 3-for-4 with a pair of two-run home runs. He now has 12 home runs on the season, tying him with junior Kyle West for most on the team.

The game started with two scoreless innings, but in the third, Cincinnati took the lead with four runs before tacking on three more in the fifth.

Chumley hit his first home run of the day in the seventh, but the Bearcats matched with two runs in the home half.

After about a 45-minute rain delay, Chumley crushed his second round-tripper of the afternoon in the eighth, a 440-foot blast over the cameras in left-center.

The rubber game between the two teams is set for Sunday at 1 p.m.
