WVSPORTS.COM West Virginia eyes alternate revenue sources for athletic department

He overpaid Eilert with zero head coaching experience, 1.5 million to be interim coach and we pay Wren Baker is making 1.1 million a year. That just out of the top 10 highest paid AD’s. Start cutting salaries.

What he should be eyeing is an alternative basketball coach, one who plays dirty because he’ll be recruiting against proven cheaters Self and Sampson, and Arizona and Oklahoma State programs that have been caught redhanded on tape cheating.

The days of cheating are pretty much behind us. You either have the money to spend now or you don't and you don't have to hide it if you do. You need the best coach and pray that you have generous donors.

Is that accurate? Jfc. Did Baker/Gee think he would say no to the opportunity of a lifetime, that at worst would guarantee he gets a head job at a lower level? What an absolutely spineless administration we have if we are actually giving Eilert life altering wealth for on the job training he didn’t actually earn.

If I read the latest story correctly, a judge has issued an injunction against the NCAA to stop them from punishing teams who negotiate NIL amounts PRIOR to a player committing. Basically, before this ruling it was illegal for a school, coach, alumni, to "negotiate" their NIL payments until they officially signed. Now, thanks to this judge, they can work out the "deal" prior to a commitment.

Basically (if I understood correctly), it's opening the door for the NCAA to have "free agency", but LEGALLY now.
