Tennessee should be renamed

Actually, Tennessee was a divided state, much like Virginia. The eastern 1/3 was mostly pro Union while the western 2/3's were pro-Confederate and heavily dependent on a slave owning cotton economy.

The difference between the two states is the B&O RR with Federal support backed a long simmering secessionist movement in Northwest VA. The Union needed the B&O to supply troops and foodstuffs from the Midwest to the armies in Northern Virginia, and to send troops from the heavily populated Northeast to fight in the Western theater.

It's often been said that WV is the only state ever created by a railroad.
