Booneville (Miss.) Northeast Mississippi C.C. linebacker Keaton Thomas told me that he loved his time in Morgantown after he came as a walk-on in the 2022 class and even worked with inside linebackers coach Jeff Koonz in the spring when he transitioned there from safety but felt that he needed to get more on-the-field experience. That led him to make the tough decision to head to the JUCO level and he has responded with a season where he has racked up 107 tackles, 2 interceptions and 1.5 sacks. That has led to offers from West Virginia, Colorado, Baylor, California and a number of others but obviously the one from the Mountaineers has his attention. He told me that he is definitely interested in returning to Morgantown and really liked how the coaches made him feel on top of the facilities and the fact that Mike Joseph is a great strength coach. He said he doesn't really need to take an official visit to campus because he's already seen it all but he is still considering that. For now he has planned one trip to California for the first week of December and is looking into some others. He is a December graduate and wants to have his recruitment wrapped up by then but it's encouraging that West Virginia is very much in the mix here.
