In yesterday's 73-71 victory over Missouri State, Josh Schertz's starting guards had the following stat lines...

1- Isaiah Swope (5'10" Junior) 7/19 FG, 5/17 from "3", 19 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists v. 0 TO & 1 steal in 38 min

2- Ryan Conwell (6'4" Sophomore) 9/15 FG, 6/10 from "3", 24 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists v. 1 TO & 1 block in 40 min

- That is a combined 11/27 from "3" (40.7%) with 4 assists vs. 1 TO in 78 combined minutes of game play. (Kriisa & Kobe combined to go 1-3 from "3" with 4 assists vs. 8 TO yesterday)

- Conwell is 47% FG, 40% 3FG, 85% FT this season. 16 ppg
- Swope is 45% FG, 40% 3FG, 69% FT this season. 17.7 ppg

- Against Alabama (L 90-102), Conwell went 5-13 FG, 4-8 3FG, 16 points, 10 rebounds, 3 steals, 0 assists vs. 4 TO in 29 min.
- Against Michigan State (L 75-87) Conwell went 5-11 FG, 3-6 3FG, 16 points, 5 rebounds, 1 steal, 3 assists vs. 2 TO in 34 min.

- Against Alabama (L 90-102), Swope went 6-13 FG, 3-6 3FG, 17 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 assists vs. 0 TO in 30 min.
- Against Michigan State (L 75-87) Swope went 9-18 FG, 6-13 3FG, 26 points, 2 rebounds, 3 steals, 3 assists vs. 2 TO in 39 min.

ISU also has a 6'8" wing named Jayson Kent who is averaging 30 min a game, 64% FG, 32% 3FG%, 13 ppg, 8 rebounds per game. He had 14 & 4 vs. Alabama and 12 & 3 vs. Michigan State.

ISU's other starting guard is 6'3" sophomore Julian Larry who is averaging 33 min a game, 57% FG, 52% 3FG, 79% FT, 11 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds per game. He had 15 points vs. Alabama, but only 3 points at Michigan State.

Schertz lets these guards play and they have impressive shot volume from beyond the arc. After watching our guards flail around yesterday like a fish dumped from a bucket onto a dock, this type of guard play would be a welcome change. Swope in particular has 10 games this season where he has attempted 10+ three point shots. We attempted 13 as a team yesterday. Schertz can flat out coach, and would bring a fun type of game with him -- relatively high scoring at 86 ppg (8th nationally) and with a ton of pressure put on the opposing defense to spread them out, attack and value good shot selection.
