let's say you run a major college football program and your HC has 2 years (or is it 3?) left on his contract.. this results in recruiting headwinds and difficulty retaining/recruiting quality staff due to the perceived lack of commitment to the coach
and..hypothetically... let's say you could give him an add'l 2-3 year extension on his current agreement, but not increase the current buyout amount in his agreement if you were to fire him before his original contract would have ended.. and let's say it could help in recruiting and staff retention/recruitment because the perception is the HC has 4-5 years left on contract.
Would you as the AD pursue this extension?
many of you seem to say NFW.. but I'm curious if that is just an emotional position or one you would really make as the AD responsible for the success of the program
