With the BS of openly paying players untold sums to create super teams without any regard to fairness, the great story that comes along and is, March Madness, needs St. Peters. Perhaps more than ever, with fans questioning whether their fandom is going to be what it was, the underdog rises up and bites the ass of one of the worst offenders of pay for play.
My guess is that basketball will continue to enjoy lots of great stories like St. Peter's upset of Kentucky and that D-1 Basketball will not see the same exodus of fans that college football is headed for.
The SEC and B10 have simply become too strong, B10 because of better management, the SEC because of predatory practices - and the playing field won't allow for the same amount of David's rising up against the Goliath rosters that are being assembled in FOOTBALL.
It's funny how cathartic it feels to not only see Kentucky lose, but to see a team from a lower division that went 20-11 playing in the MAAC, lost to juggernauts Stoney Brook, Sienna and Rider during the season... rise up and takes such a chuck of flesh out of what represents everything wrong with amateur athletics.
