WVU Cheerleaders Help Pick Up WVU Fans after Athletic Department Woes
(sort of) by MountainDoc1

American President John F. Kennedy once said, "The sun doesn't always shine in West Virginia, but the people do." Lately, it seems the skies have been gray in Morgantown, West Virginia. The athletic department has been plagued by woke faux pas, poor results in football, basketball post season play, a end of the year baseball slump, and now scandal as famed Mountaineer coach Bob Huggins repeats the act that got him fired from the University of Cincinnati and was arrested for drunk driving late Friday night. A collective "oh no" could be heard from the Mountain state as fans everywhere expect the eminent resignation or sacking of the Hall of Fame Basketball coach.

Stepping into the breach though to cheer up the collective souls of a weary fan base though are the WVU Cheerleaders. Led by the new Mountaineer mascot, Boone county native Mikel Hager the cheerleaders are dedicated to bringing on the energy to the Mountaineer experience.

Here several cheerleaders can be seen at the 10th Annual Bob Huggins Fish Fry. Will it be the last? Easier to not care with cheerleaders like these here to pick you up.

Seniors like Abigail Nickerson who is majoring exercise physiology will cheer on the Mountaineers this year.

The cheerleaders come from all over the state. Colten Oliver hales from Doddridge County. Colten states her favorite memory is leading the football team out onto the field.

WVU recent graduating senior Amanda Waterman was there to cheer on the football team to their last second win against Texas in 2018. She heads forward now with a degree in English and Secondary Education.

Even in the dark days of Covid 19 restrictions they never turned their backs on us...well maybe once, but we'll allow it.

The mountaineer cheerleaders will continue to spread sunshine and WVU spirit where ever you may be. They remind us to keep your heads held high, and there will be brighter days soon enough.
