I'm just going to cut and past the stuff I did for OSI. Sorry Oklahoma State is in bold in all the lists, but the information is relevant to the entire conference. I don't think any of this will require much explanation, but if I get ahead of myself let me know and I'll try and clarify. Remember, all of these numbers are nongarbage possessions. That means stats after a blowout has been established (as defined by me, but it's a set system at a point it would take a miracle to come back, I've only seen it happen once in two full years of doing this) aren't included.

I'll start with the offense, and this time I'll share more of the stats I track...

Points/Possession

1. Baylor - 3.48 (3.37 last week)
2. Texas - 3.43 (N/A)
3. Kansas State - 3.31 (3.55)
4. Oklahoma - 3.21 (3.12)
5. West Virginia - 3.03 (2.95)
6. Texas Tech - 2.96 (3.20)
7. Oklahoma State - 2.94 (2.74)[/B]
8. TCU - 1.96 (N/A)
9. Iowa State - 1.88 (1.63)
10. Kansas - 1.50 (1.43)

In Week 11 2.94 would have been 16th nationally. It'll be a while before I can finish the rest of the country's week 12 stats. Sorry about that. The holiday is really going to screw around with my time table.

Points/Possession Conference Games Only

1. Oklahoma - 3.83
2. Baylor - 3.37
3. Kansas State - 3.14
4. Texas - 2.99
5. West Virginia - 2.94
6. Oklahoma State - 2.81[/B]
7. Texas Tech - 2.56
8. TCU - 2.00
9. Iowa State - 1.97
10. Kansas - 1.41

Other than OU, who played Notre Dame and struggled at UTEP, and Iowa State, who also played some defense heavy nonconference opponents, everyone is down here.

Available Yardage %

1. Baylor - 64.2%
2. Texas - 61.4%
3. Oklahoma - 60.1%
4. Kansas State - 60.0%
5. Oklahoma State - 57.2%[/B]
6. West Virginia - 56.5%
7. Texas Tech - 54.3%
8. TCU - 43.8%
9. Iowa State - 41.6%
9. Kansas - 41.6%

I like this stat better than total yards because it keeps things in perspective. The OU-West Virginia game is a good example... OU gained 645 total yards to West Virginia's 827. Both teams scored 7 TD's and 1 FG. If all you have to go on is a boxscore you might look at that and think OU got away with one there, but both teams gained 68% of the yards available to them as OU's average field position was their own 32.5 yard line while West Virginia started just inside their own 20 on average.

Available Yardage % Conference Games Only

1. Oklahoma - 67.4%

6. West Virginia - 55.7%

9. Kansas - 41.3%

6. Kansas State - 6.29
7. Texas Tech - 5.88
8. TCU - 5.46
9. Iowa State - 5.32
10. Kansas - 5.26

Still on the offense... We'll do first down%, explosive & methodical possession %'s here. FD% figures all possessions in which a team either gained one first down or scored a TD. Explosive are all possessions that averaged more than ten yards/play (excluding 1 play possessions that resulted in a turnover) and methodical possessions are any that included 10 or more plays.

9. West Virginia - 11.3% (9)
10. Oklahoma State - 10.2% (9)[/B]

Offensive TO%, this won't include TO's on the ST's or the rare TO by the defense. Like all of these stats they don't include TO's in garbage possessions.

1. Kansas State - 5.2%
2. West Virginia - 6.3%
3. Texas - 8.5%
4. Oklahoma State - 12.5%[/B]
5. Oklahoma - 13.8%
5. Texas Tech - 13.8%
7. Iowa State - 14.3%
8. Baylor - 14.6%
9. Kansas - 14.9%
10. TCU - 18.2%

I'll do the same numbers for the defense, starting with Points/Possession Allowed

6. Texas - 2.59
7. Texas Tech - 2.91
8. Kansas - 3.01
9. Baylor - 3.19

In week 11 1.77 would rank 33rd nationally. Oklahoma and Kansas State were well ahead of that range (19th and 21st) prior to this last weekend.

I hope you enjoyed that. Feel free to share that with your pay board, just remind people to come talk to me about it too. I get a little edgy when no one replies... When I get back from the holiday break we can see how well Florida State and Clemson might fit in with the rest of us, or anyone else you might consider for expansion.

It may be a while before I can do another national update, or catch up with the Big 12 through week 13 since I'll be out of town.

Enjoy your holiday, and good luck to your teams this weekend (unless you're a Sooner, in which case I can't in good faith wish you luck this week, sorry).
