Nebraska lost their AAU membership status in 2011, a year after joining the Big 10. For some schools, that has been a problem. How that would effect Oklahoma is still to be determined but it's worth noting that there are two Big 12 schools who are AAU members; Iowa State and Kansas, both of which fit nicely in the Big 10 map.
To those who wonder how important this membership is, look no futher than the admittance of Rutgers into the Big 10 Conference. The only advantage the Scarlet Knights had over UCONN, which could have as easily delived the coveted New York market is AAU membership.
