--As of now there are no additional optouts outside of the players that have exited the program in the transfer portal. West Virginia doesn't anticipate any of the players that have entered into the portal to play in the game.

--Brandon Yates will be the center with starter Zach Frazier out due to injury.

--Rodney Gallagher will be the kick returner for the bowl game as he's been working there for the last month. If Preston Fox can't go and he is truly questionable at this stage, then Beanie Bishop would be the punt returner and it's something he's done before.

--CJ Donaldson is out as you all know by now, but head coach Neal Brown said it was his decision as he would benefit more from getting surgery and getting back to develop instead of trying to play in the bowl game hurt.

--Corey McIntyre is going to take some snaps up front with the hole left by Mike Lockhart.

--DJ Oliver is going to play in this game because Brown confirmed that the redshirt rule is not in effect for the bowl game. However, it's unclear just how many carries he will get. The running backs for the game will be Jaheim White as the starter, Jaylen Anderson and Oliver.

--West Virginia plans a rotation in the backend of the defense. Aubrey Burks can play nickel, while Malachi Ruffin can slide over to safety. The plan is also to get Jacolby Spells some more snaps at cornerback because he's earned it and Raleigh Collins can fill in at spear with Hershey McLaurin off to the transfer portal.
