WVSPORTS.COM Yormark focused on creating momentum for Big 12 media rights deal

Seems the conference made a wise choice with their new commisioner- he has vision and ideas and knows what is important for the league going forward.

From an Arizona news source: Interesting points on expansion from YorkmacK:

New Big 12 commissioner Brett Yorkmack said Wednesday he is open to expansion when asked if the conference was actively engaged in discussions with Pac-12 schools.

“We are exploring all options and we are open for business,” Yorkmack told reporters during the start of Big 12 media days. “Optionality is good. We’re vetting through all of them. I think it’s fair to say I’ve received a lot of phone calls, a lot of interest.

Expansion yes. Agreement no. Pick off the best 4 to 6 immediately. Renegotiate TV. Lock in new GOR. Launch B12 Network. Get to 20+ with 2+ Eastern teams. Yorkmack has a full plate.

That he does. I think the PAC schools are pushing the combo thing, the BIG 12 is about expanding with the right pieces.

Yormarcks statement on expansion-which of course is the most important one:

Yormark, who will officially replace outgoing Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby on Aug. 1,, said any timeline concerning possible expansion is "fluid."

"No one knows," Yormark said. "But we are engaged in conversations daily with all the key stakeholders. And at the right time when something makes sense, we'll do it -- or not. ... Sometimes the best deals are the ones that you don't make, because we don't want to just do a deal for sake of the deal. That's not my mindset, and obviously whatever we do needs to be additive and not diluted. But we're being proactive. We're not on our heels. We're engaged in meaningful conversation, and we'll see where it takes us."

Pac 12 ad's singing a different tune.

Every add the big 12 has made was nothing but a leftover that the Sec and Big 10 didn't want
Talk about leftovers ...... the prior 3 that the B1G added weren't winners. Nebraska? Maryland? Rutgers? Middle of the pack or lower if they were in the PAC , B12 or ACC.
You seriously come here dissing the B12 when the B1G picks Rutgers? Really. Go troll somewhere else.

Of course they are. PAC is very vulnerable. AZ, AZSt could bolt to the B12 at any time. Ore and Wash on hold till ND decides.
B1G will go to 20 at some time. Just depends on who they pull from the PAC. ND, 1PAC, 2ACC? 2PAC, 2ACC?

Notre Dame is not going to join the big 10 or any conference at this time. Notre Dame can join whenever they want and everyone with common sense knows that. The big 10 doesn't want Oregon or Washington at this time their brands aren't big enough. The schools from the pac 12 don't want to come to the Big 12. There is nothing appealing about a conference of mid level power 5 schools sprinkled in with G5 schools. If you're not a G5 school then coming to the Big 12 is a last option not a first option.

Nebraska has struggled over the last decade but they are still a blue blood. Look at the resources they have compared to the other schools in the Big 12. If Nebraska came back to the Big 12 they would be more valuable and marketable than any team in the conference. When the Big 10 added Maryland and Rutgers it had to do with cable television markets. Not every expansion move was motivated by the same criteria. When the sec added South Carolina and Missouri they weren't getting world beaters,

I'm thinking Ga. Tech is kicking themselves for leaving the SEC in the 1960's.
