Douglas Named Walter Camp All-American


MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – (December 8, 2016) – The Walter Camp Football Foundation has named West Virginia senior cornerback Rasul Douglas to its All-American team, tonight, as a second-team selection.


This is the 127th edition of the Walter Camp All-America team – the nation’s oldest All-

America team. Twenty-five players have been selected to the first team by the 129 Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors. In addition, 26 players have been selected to the Second Team.


Douglas, who tied for the national lead in interceptions with eight in 2016, was named an unanimous All-Big 12 First-Team honoree by the league’s coaches, the Associated Press and ESPN.com. He also was named to ProFootballFocus’ All-American second team and as the league’s defensive player of the year by ESPN.com.


Douglas was the fourth-leading tackler for West Virginia, registering 62 tackles, including 45 solo stops, one sack, three tackles for loss, one forced fumble and seven pass breakups.


Douglas returned an interception 54 yards for a touchdown against BYU and had an interception for four straight games from Kansas through the Iowa State games. He had a season-high two interceptions against Kansas.


West Virginia finished with a 10-2 mark during the 2016 regular season and will face Miami in the Russell Athletic Bowl on Wednesday, December 28, at 5:30 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN.
