Staten showed a lot of NBA-like offensive potential his junior season when he lead the Big XII in scoring. Helped in having Harris/Henderson/Dibo stretching the floor with 3s. Was basically open season to take his guy off the dribble & make a play. That season in particular his mid-range shot was very reliable & he consistently finished inside too.
Seems to perform best against man-to-man, which is all the NBA is. Staten measured a 41 inch vertical last month, which places him among elite NBA talents in that measure of athleticism. So he's on the smaller side for a NBA guard, but can get up.
I agree the D-League will help. Unless a guy is taken in the first round - the guaranteed contract round - it doesn't mean much to get drafted.
Hope he can find a home in the league. Will be making money playing somewhere.
