MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (March 5, 2018) – West Virginia senior point guard Jevon Carter has been named a Sporting News Second-Team All-American.
The Maywood, Illinois, native was selected as the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight season and is just the third player from a major conference (first Big 12 player) to be named to the All-Defensive Team all four years of his career. He was a unanimous choice for the All-Big 12 First Team and the Big 12 All-Defensive Team.
Carter is the second WVU player to earn All-Big 12 First Team honors, joining Juwan Staten (2014 and 2015). Carter led the Mountaineers this year in scoring average per game (17.0), total assists (201), steals (89) and points (527).
Carter is also a finalist for three prestigious awards in the Bob Cousy Point Guard Award, the John R. Wooden Award and the Arthur Ashe Jr. Male Athlete of the Year.
