Six new matchups will be featured in the 2019 edition of the men's basketball SEC/Big 12 Challenge.

The sixth annual event will consist of 10 games played on Saturday, January 26, as every Big 12 member faces 10 squads from the Southeastern Conference. Only four of the games will feature pairings from previous challenges.

Half of the contests will showcase matchups in which both participants competed in the 2018 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship while nine will feature at least one team that advanced to a postseason tournament.

This will mark the fourth consecutive year for all matchups to be played in one day. ESPN, EPSN2 and ESPNU will combine to televise the contests with ESPN's College GameDay originating from one of the sites.

Big 12 teams are 29-21 (.580) in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge. In the first four years of the event, the Challenge trophy remained in the Big 12 office. The Big 12 won it the first three seasons and the leagues split the 10 games in 2017 (in case of a tie, the trophy stays with the conference that won it the previous season). The SEC won the fifth season of the Challenge.

Lexington, KY and Knoxville, TN are 2 of the best kept secrets in America. Great areas. WVU fans that make the trip will enjoy Knoxville area and East Tennessee. Tennessee Vols have a good team returning and this will be a big game environment. Will be sold out rocking.

Some are saying Tennessee might be good enough for a preseason top 5. They return its top six scorers. They could make the jump from really good to great. Former Texas coach Rick Barnes has a pretty good team.
