Even though WVU hasn’t won a game in the Big 12 the Mountaineers still are considered a Top 40 team in national College Football Power Rankings. 68 get into March Madness so that puts WVU ahead of about one-third of the field.

Why?

Because the Big 12 is by far the #1 basketball conference this season, with back-to-back national champs among its 10 members. Experts recognize WVU's quality. Hurting fans don't as they wail and lash out before of their pain, which pales compare to the pain the players and Huggins are feeling!

Teams not winless in their conference, as WVU is, would be winless in the Big 12.

That’s why the national metrics, while recognizing their losses in the Big 12, still consider WVU, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech in the Top 40.

Texas, Iowa State, Kansas State, TCU and Baylor are much nearer the top, of course, but that’s 80% of the conference in the Top 40.

Texas Tech’s 34-point loss to Iowa State raised skeptical eyebrows, but it happened against a Big 12 team that is #11 in the Power Rankings. How many teams in the other Power 5 conferences would beat Iowa State?

Kansas is #2 in the power rankings, behind Houston, a future Big 12 member!

Xavier, which didn’t beat WVU by much, is #6.

TCU is #13, Kansas State #15.

Now, if WVU players can get their brains to be on the same page as their bodies, maybe some Big 12 upsets are in their future!

TCU, Texas Tech, Auburn, TCU again offer golden chances to shock the nation! Do it, guys!
