From WVU Associate AD for Communications Michael Fragale:

“We are appreciative of the efforts of the Morgantown Police Department, and thankful that those identified will make a full recovery.”

“Due to a violation of team rules, Tyree Owens and Kenyatta Greene are no longer a part of the Mountaineer football team.”

Quoting the article "Redshirt freshman defensive lineman Tyree Owens and walk-on running back Kenyatta Greene were identified as two of three victims in the incident." Why do VICTIMS get kicked off the team? Poor writing or just a dearth of detail?

Something is not jiving with what the OP posted if as skygusty said that they were the VICTIMS. Why were they kicked off the team? Is the view of the coaching staff that they may have played a part and violated team/university rules? Very odd...

There were two U of Utah football players that were shot at a party over the weekend here in SLC, when some troublemakers were told to leave... the troublemakers then came back and shot the Ute players. They ended up as the victims with one player out for the season and it was never reported they were dismissed.

Probably they were out after curfew after the game or something or being where they weren't supposed to be.

Good riddance. Maybe Doc will pick them up.

One thing I always appreciated when I went to school at WVU was the fact that you never saw the football players out at the bars causing trouble.

All I have to ask is, "What team rules did they violate?!" So they were stabbed as they got into an altercation with a b-ball player from Alderson Broaddus? Yet they were dismissed from the team? There has to be more to this as to why they were dismissed. Just being in an altercation and stabbed shouldn't be grounds to be dismissed from the team. What crime did they commit?

From one source: "He and walkon Kenyatta Greene were dismissed from the team after the coaching staff reviewed video of the incident."

Good riddance. Maybe Doc will pick them up.

I'm sure Doc has already made them an offer. Can he find a way to suit either up at QB this year?
