WVU Release WVU Rifle Announces 2024-25 Schedule

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Sept. 11, 2024) The West Virginia University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced the 2024-25 rifle schedule.



The regular season features four contests at home, six on the road and one neutral site match. All home regular-season matches will be held inside the WVU Rifle Range or the WVU Shell Building.



West Virginia will host an NCAA Qualifying match on Feb. 22 and the 2025 Great American Rifle Conference (GARC) Championships from March 1-2. The Mountaineers also are set to compete on the road at this year's 2025 NCAA Championships.



West Virginia opens its season on the road, competing in two matches on Oct. 5-6. WVU first takes on Citadel on Saturday in Charleston, S.C., before heading down the road to Statesboro, Ga., on Sunday for a match against Georgia Southern.



The Mountaineers open home action on Saturday, Oct. 19 when they welcome Memphis to Morgantown. WVU stays at home the following weekend for a match against Mount Aloysius on Saturday, Oct. 26.



West Virginia is back on the road, traveling to West Point, N.Y. for a weekend series on Nov. 9-10. WVU opens the trip on Saturday with a match against Army before closing out action on Sunday against John Jay in a neutral site match.



WVU then returns to Morgantown to close out its fall schedule with a match against defending NCAA National Champion TCU. The event is set for Saturday, Nov. 16.



West Virginia kicks off their spring schedule at home against Navy on Saturday, Jan. 18, before taking to the road for a trip to the Buckeye State for two matches from Jan. 25-26. WVU opens the road swing against Ohio State on Saturday and then head north to Akron for a matchup with the Zips on Sunday.



WVU caps the regular season on the road when they square off with Kentucky on Saturday, Feb. 8, in Lexington, Ky.



West Virginia opens the postseason by host the NCAA Qualifier on Saturday, Feb. 22. Participating teams will be released at a later date.



The Mountaineers stay in the confines of home and look to defend their title from a season ago at the 2025 GARC Championships from March 1-2. The competition will take place inside the WVU Shell Building.



Should WVU qualify, the team will compete at the 2025 NCAA Championships from March 14-15. This year’s championships are being hosted by Kentucky.



Times for all contests and postseason events will be announced at a later date.



West Virginia finished the 2024-25 season with a perfect 13-0 record, including an 6-0 mark in the GARC. WVU claimed the 2024 GARC Tournament title, good for its conference-best 16th title. The Mountaineers also are seeking to win their seventh NCAA National Championship under Hammond.



West Virginia returns five shooters from last year’s team and welcomes three newcomers.
