WVSPORTS.COM WVU gobbles up Hokies 88-63

Was a good showing by WVU. Only things that I didn't like were not making lots of shots from the perimeter, and giving up large lead in the first half. They built a bigger one in the second and were able to maintain though, despite a few slip ups.

They need to get back on D quicker after making baskets because they give up too many fouls or points when they don't--and good teams can exploit that.

From the lack of chatter from the "official game thread" and some opening comments by a couple of posters... I thought we were getting blown out. Reading the report on the game... it was just the opposite. I guess I just don't "get" some of our "fans". Good job, Mountaineers!!

....to be fair...it was a middle of the work week noon game.

While I have the luxury to move work hours around that other people may not...i completely understand why the forum was quiet.

Great job from the Mountaineers! I wish WVU could have finished the deal against Virginia they would be a top 5-10 team right now. I'm afraid WVU is really good but not great. Sad part is I honestly believe this WVU team has a chance to be great if all the pieces fall into place.

This team won't be great... ...just better than they should be. Huggs doing an awesome job.

The guards were great today. Really loved Carter and Paige. Holton was a beast, Macon made some great plays and Ahmad too. Williams never got it going other than rebounds. Adrian couldn't throw it in the ocean again but played pretty good defense. I don't think Huggs worries too much about giving up a few easy buckets when the press is doing the job he expects. We will lose a few in conference but the games are going to be fun to watch and we will go to the big dance again, where we will be very hard to prepare for again.

They are able to move the ball and score from inside. They need free throw work and the ability to score from the perimeter. Definitely look like an improved bunch from last season. That's good because a tough season is coming up in the top level BIG 12.

I am not sure WVU will play in a bigger dump all year than Cassell Coliseum and that includes the CCC.

At least the CCC doesn't have a swirly fan at the top of the ceiling.
