WVU DRAWS LARGER HOME CROWDS THAN KANSAS STATE

At 7 pm Saturday on ESPN+ in Manhattan, Kansas, only 5 players were present at the March 2021 pre-March Madness matchup in the first round of the Big 12 tournament that WVU won.

Even K-State’s head coach is new: Jerome Tang

K-State lost only to Butler 76-64 on Nov. 30. Butler was 4-3 coming into that game. Because K-State’s tenacious defense forgot to show up. The Wildcats were out-rebounded, but only by 31-27.

Kansas State is outscoring opponents by 15 points per game, same as WVU. 47% per game in field goals to WVU’s 49.2%. Out-rebounding foes by only 4.5 per game, better than WVU’s 3.6. 13.6 turnovers to 16.9 for opponents, pretty close to WVU’s 12.2 to 16.8. 7.9 steals per game to WVU’s 7.7.

K-State home crowds average only 8,324 per game to WVU’s 10,419.
Other than how many people show up for home games the numbers are pretty close.

Matchups come into it, too. So we'll see what happens Saturday.

Tang has been there before, been to Morgantown before, has been in Big 12 tourney. Tang has even won a National Championsip before.

He was top assistant coach and recruiter for the Baylor Bears.

This will not be an easy game for WVU. The Oklahoma State game will be easier than KSU.
