WVU Bowl Projections – Week of 11/23/2015

It's looking more like the Liberty Bowl for the top projection but no consensus on opponent, although Arkansas and Tennessee seem to be the frontrunners across the board regardless of bowl.

I like the Arkansas match-up, not so much Tennessee.

I would, too, but a bowl in their home state isn't what I had in mind. Plus, we do have them on the schedule for 2018 in Charlotte.

Most of the time, I'm strongly against drawing a bowl opponent who is already on our future non-conference schedules. Whenever possible, bowl season should always be about arranging matchups that wouldn't otherwise happen. Same thing if Missouri upsets Arkansas this week and gets bowl-eligible. I wouldn't want to play the Tigers, either, because we're opening with them next September.

Nothing against any of those schools--I'm definitely looking forward to playing them--it's just that a team from the Pac-12 or Arkansas or Georgia or Ole Miss who we can't schedule is way more fresh because we know none of them are looming down the road.

With either opponent, Arkansas or Tennessee, the Liberty Bowl in Memphis is almost like a home game for them.

True. Ole Miss wouldn't be much better for the same geographical reason.

Of course, there's also the possibility of the Texas Bowl which would be a little less of a home game for most SEC teams.
