WVU AP # 22

For all the lame complainers on the site.........string together a few wins and WVU is ranked. You just had to give the team a chance to get by the media darlings that lose every year. The playoff spot will need to be a back door spot from an undefeated Baylor or WVU. It's down to two.

We are not a 12-0 team but I will gladly ride the wave for as long as they stay undefeated. Beat Tech and let's roll to 5-0!

9+ wins no excuses against these creme puffs. We shouldn't have hoped to be 4-0 we should have expected it. Most of the teams we play going forward will have vastly superior offenses that we have faced to date but vastly inferior defenses so its a wash. Anything less than 9 wins this season would signify underachievement. The future is now No more excuses.

Why are you so negative?

What is negative about demanding 9+ wins? what reality are you living in? We just played 4 games against teams we should have expected to beat. Missouri was the only team that statistically has a good offense based on results to date. Byu's offense is currently ranked 65 and K State is 109. We expected to have a good O this year. Nothing to date should have come as a surprise. The big 12 is weak and every game is winnable. The majority of the difficult games are at home anything less than 9+ wins would be a disappointment But maybe not to the mediocrity accepting mindset.

We are 4-0 and you are acting like we are 0-4. Two wins over P5 teams and another against an independent that is on the level as P5 teams. You're looking for any reason to bitch and complain about an undefeated team.....congrats.

And lol at your "demands." I am sure Dana is on pins and needles trying to meet them.

Im not acting like where 0-4. I have said all along that 9+ wins was more than doable this year long before the season started. None of the teams we have played to date are good teams, there not bad either. Allot of average to above average teams would have the same record as us if they played the same schedule. You're the crybaby looking for any excuse to lower expectations. You're biggest problem is the Big 12 has already been exposed so you can't use the we can't do better than 7-5 where in the big 12 now excuse. You have been asked on several occasions by other posters what are reasonable expectations for the season. You continually fail to answer the question. There is no excuse not to finish in the top 3 in the conference this year but if we don't im sure you'll come up with some excuse.

The only demands that really matter are those of Shane Lyons, Gordon Gee, and some of the more influential donors. If the so called experts are correct and Coach Holgorson is truly on the hot seat then I would expect he would have to do better than 7-5 this season especially considering the weakened state of the conference. What is Dana's lucky number? Only the people I have mentioned really know but if 8-5 wasn't good enough for an extension last year he has probably got to win 8 games at least to have a chance to coach next season.

WVU is 4-0 and has beaten three P5 level teams in doing so.

To say the BIg 12 isn't good shows a lack of understanding of college football.

Going into this weekend the conference had two unbeatens and four one loss
Teams out of a ten team conference.

BIG 12 teams accounted for the second loss of three of those teams- that doesn't make the conference weak or its teams beatable.

Some aren't really Mountaineer fans here obviously, but are here only for trolling purposes.

How could a fan not be ecstatic about a 4-0 start with three P-5s in that group and a tough win over a good KSU team WVU had not previously beaten?

I agree that anything less than 9 wins this year would be worthy of a dismissal of Dana. The B12 has never been this bereft of elite teams in...well...I don't know the last time the SWC/Big8/Big12 has looked this bad.

Add that the best teams (TCU, OK, Baylor) short of OKSt all come here, then that makes another tailspin seem even more unseemly.

Remember Dana still has a full year left on this contract so they'll owe him a good chunk of money if they fire him this season. I think it's $3 million+.

Not sure an 8 win season sends him packing. He needs 9 to look good though.

I'd like to see Dana/Grier together next year. We saw what Geno did under Dana.

What if Dana wins 8 games this season, gets fired, and then our next coach looks like a genius because Grier turns out to be the real deal? Even though Dana brought him in and would probably do great things with him?

Wasn't Grier undefeated as an SEC starter?

I just want to see what Dana's team looks like with a top level QB running the show, and a nice team supporting him.

I think with 8 wins Dana gets an extension and a shot with Grier for one more good season. The guaranteed portion of this current contract will be over so they won't have that to fight over.

IMO, Lyons doesn't have much to lose in that situation.

Big12 is solid obviously but the playoffs may not be achievable for a conference team this year. A 1 loss team will not sniff a playoff spot. Heck an undefeated team may not get by Houston and a second team from another conference. Those arguing that the conference is crazy strong are basic homers that truly have no national credibility.

Im happy about being 4-0 but I wouldn't say that we beat a good KSU team. They are only 2-2 and lost to us and Stanford the only power 5 teams on there schedule to date. The Missouri and Byu wins are not bad but neither of those teams have winning records. I think the real season starts in Lubbock. The next 4 games will be against teams with the ability to exploit our weaknesses and if we survive then we very well could go on to have a magical season.
