MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (May 13, 2016) –West Virginia University football coach Dana Holgorsen has announced that Maurice Fleming, a 6-0, 205-pound cornerback and a senior transfer from Iowa, has signed a grant-in-aid and will be eligible for the 2016 football season.

2015 (r-Jr.)

•Played in 14 games, recording 17 tackles and five pass breakups

•Recorded three solo tackles and two pass break-ups vs. Illinois State

•Had one assisted tackle against Iowa State as defense allowed no points and just 66 yards total offense in the second half

•Registered one solo tackle, two assists and two pass breakups against North Texas

•Recorded two tackles at Illinois, including one solo stop and one assist

•Had one assisted tackle against Maryland

•Finished with one solo tackle and one pass breakup against Indiana

•Recorded two solo tackles and one assist against Purdue

•Started at cornerback in 28-20 win at Nebraska for second career start, recording one assisted tackle

•Saw action in 45-16 Rose Bowl loss to Stanford, recording one assisted tackle



2014

•Played in 11 games, recording eight solo tackles, three assists and one pass breakup

•Started at cornerback in 24-20 win at Pitt, for first career start as defense allowed just three points in the second half

•Finished with one solo stop and one assist at Pitt

•Had one solo tackle and one pass breakup against Northwestern as defense allowed just 180 yards total offense

•Had one solo tackle against Wisconsin

•Recorded career-high five tackles vs. Tennessee, including four solo stops and one assist


2013

•Played in eight games, recording three solo tackles and one forced fumble

•Recorded first career action against Western Michigan, recording two solo tackles and a forced fumble

•Finished with one solo tackle against LSU in the Outback Bowl


2012

•Redshirted


High school honors

•Played for coach Tyson LeBlanc at Curie Metropolitan High

•Earned four letters as defensive back and quarterback

•Named all-state as a senior

•First team all-conference and all-city as a junior after earning second team all-conference honors as a sophomore

•Team won Chicago Public League title in 2010 and advanced to state playoffs four straight years

•Team captain as a junior and senior

•Completed 19-of-29 passes for 273 yards and three touchdowns as a senior, while rushing for 103 yards and a touchdown and recording 15 tackles and one interception on defense

•As a junior rushed for 1,003 yards and 17 touchdowns while completing 165-of-265 passes for 2,011 yards and 18 touchdowns

•Recorded 47 tackles and three interceptions on defense

•As a sophomore completed 102-of-198 passes for 1,409 yards and 14 touchdowns and rushed for 502 yards and 11 scores

•Rushed 49 times for 195 yards and a touchdown as a freshman

•Also lettered in basketball and track.
 
Hawkeye fan here - you're getting a good player. With Desmond King coming back for his senior season, I think Fleming was unfortunately buried on the depth chart and who can blame him for wanting to see the field more. I hope he does great things for you guys this year.

he is definitely coming to a place where he will have a chance at alot of playing time. Glad he is now a Mountaineer! WVU needs quality depth at DB especially in a conference like the Big12.
