Surely all of the panic must be justified for the health of our students, athletes, coaching staff and professors at our state's largest University. Can anyone tell me how many from WVU have actually died, been on a ventilator or even hospitalized from the virus?

Since the average age of deaths from the virus is approximately 80 yoa in the US I would guess no deaths, 2 on a ventilator and 8 hospitalized. Can anyone correct me? Of course no death regardless of age from this virus is acceptable, but give us some stats we can relate to and consider that have a direct impact on WVU sports fans.

Let me correct you here. And I'll sound cruel. But deaths happen. All the time. And from common colds or even allergic reactions to simple things (ex. bee stings). Death will happen in life. It's a major part of it. And the fact that the deaths are coming from the age group that is at the end of their lives is why this is so frustrating. Sweden quarantined their elderly. The healthy was allowed to go out, do their normal routines, and try to reach herd immunity.

Again, death is part of life. The fact that we are trying to prevent deaths is troubling, because you never can..........unless you put everyone in quarantine, take away anything that could cause it, and live a miserable life until finally your body gives out........on its own........regardless of disease or contaminates from the outside world.

I don't think I articulated my message well enough to make the meaning clear. I am 68 this month and have a very serious heart problem my Cardiologist expected me to already be dead from. I realize every birth certificate has an expiration date you can't see, but I'm ready for it in ways that count whenever it comes.

I was referring the media, medical experts and politicians not giving us the reassuring aspects of the virus as it relates to college life including sports. My questions remain. Has any WVU student or member of the faculty/administration died as a direct result of Covid 19? Are any on respirators, etc.? I appreciate your well stated response though, very accurate.

Yes...if you get the Covid killer you are gonna DIE!!!!!!!!! That is the only message we hear from the media. Not survival rates...DEATH RATES. Are you prepared to DIE???????

Then you'd better stay home and wear this...even while you sleep!

I have known for years that I am destined to die. Then to spend eternity praising my saviour.

Friend's daughter is a freshman at WVU and she is already on 14 day quarantine. The gal she buddies with tested positive so now they're both "locked down". Poor kid was struggling being away from home to begin with and now this. No prom, no graduation and now college starting this way. Gotta suck.

It's sickening what our "experts" have turned the world in to. And they've been wrong more than they've been right. Yet, our elected leaders continue listening.

That's the idiocy of how we are handling it. What not test your friend's daughter, if she tests negative, then let her live her life. We are shutting down systems completely, or forcing massive numbers of people to quarantine, when only a very few test positive.

If you are in direct contact, with no mask, and no social distancing, you stand a 20% chance of catching it from that person. Wow. Run for the hills!

The point is being missed. Deaths are bad do not want that bu the unknow is long term heart and lung problems caused by the disease. About 35% don't just get better and walk away.

So what do we do? Stay shut down forever? Life sucks. It's always been like that. Risks every time you step outside.

We don't stay shut down forever. We simply adapt until a vaccine is discovered. We have to alter our lifestyle to avoid the spread. Any activity that has a large group has to be curtailed or that working of that group has to be altered as with the NBA. If you are going to have college football then the team has to be quarantined. They cannot be in the general population. That should be doable. Kids being in college cannot be controlled so that should be online. One does not affect the other. You cannot eliminate the Risks but you certainly lessen the effect. Simply ignoring the problem is not the answer.

What you just said.....equals.....shutting down. The world cannot live "in a bubble" like the NBA. Time to man up, get on with your lives, or stay scared and live in your house. It's a personal choice, not a government choice for us.

It's not a personal choice. Number 1 if you get covid 19 you spread it so that infects others that do not want to be infected. Number 2 there are medical costs incurred that are mostly paid by the taxpayers. Getting Drunk at home is a personal choice. Getting Drunk and driving a car is not a personal choice as it affects others.

If you don't want to catch germs, stay home. Germs are part of life. This "virus" has a survival rate of over 99.4%. The average age of death is over 75 years old. That's your target population. Keep them home until there is a fake vaccine available.

You are wrong. I hope for your sake your family does not catch COVID-19

Why? I've had a half dozen close friends have it. Sniffled a few days, fine in 5 days. Stop watching the news for your information. Let me ask you, have you personally witnessed this "virus"? Not on TV, not in news reports, not on video.....but personally seen someone who had it? I have.........several times.........
