Maybe the Big 12 title will be decided Dec. 3 in Mountaineer Field, when the Bears visit the Mountaineers. We can only hope.
The worse thing that can happen to the Big 12 is if Oklahoma wins the conference title. Goodbye, national playoff berth!

If WVU runs the table (I know, a long shot, and it's early), then the Mountaineers would be a legitimate contender for the national playoffs, particularly with so many other teams already having losses. An unbeaten WVU WOULD be in the Football Final Four.

First, let's take care of BYU solidly, the way WVU did against Missouri, and not the way the Mountaineers played against Youngstown.

I can't wait.

I'd take a pseudo championship game with Baylor in Morgantown any day.

Lgm!

From you typing fingers to God's ears.

Wouldn't that be a hoot? WVU, which has averaged 4-5 in the Big 12 during Dana's 4 years, and Baylor, which lost a boatload of players to Texas and other schools over the sex outrage scandal, playing December 3 at Mountaineer Field for the Big 12 title.

I know BYU is next and it's a LONG road through the Big 12 meatgrinder, which doesn't look quite as formidable this year, but we can enjoy the euphoria for however long it lasts.

Based on what you have seen to date what do you think are reasonable expectations for W/L come seasons end?

In short, the "favorites" had their chance. They just need to step aside and let either WVU or Baylor win out or no one from the B12 makes it to the playoffs.

We'll be just as guilty if we lose to BYU after a bye week and their being 1-2.

BYU's 1-2 record is VERY misleading. They beat Arizona, lost to Utah and UCLA and all three games were decided by 1, 2 or 3 points. So that tells me that BYU is pretty even with those three teams, which isn't chopped liver.

I'm hopeful, but realistic. If WVU has the Missouri game, with fixes on the flaws I saw then, the Mountaineers will win. If WVU plays the way it did against Youngstown, then Baylor will be the only unbeaten Big 12 team.

Sorry. We won't go undefeated to that game. OU has our number even though they're a damn embarrassment this year. The game at Texas is really scary even though they apparently can't play defense. Yeah we should not get soundly beaten by anyone on our schedule but at the same time, we're not beating everyone.

I haven't seen a team in the Big 12 that can play defense this season. Unless you count WVU and Kansas State. Haven't seen those 2 play against power offenses as of yet. So, you never know.

Beat KSU right off the bat and the we are headed in the right direction.

The way this season has been going after only 3 weeks, who the hell knows? I sure don't. I'm must hopeful and optimistic. And WVU will remain unbeaten till it loses a game. The longer that takes, the better we'll all feel about it.

OU as well as K State has had are number since we have been members of the big 12 but that has to change sometime. This year will be our best shot at OU since 2012 and we have more talent than K state does the only way K state beats us is if they out coach us.

The Ucla game wasn't really that close. UCLA was up 17-0 midway through the 3rd quarter. Byu scored with 30 seconds left to make it 17-14 Ucla controlled the game for the most part. Utah turned the ball over 6 times against Byu. Not saying the game will be easy i think will win by 10 points but some of Byu's games where not as close as they appear.

Of course. But BYU did have 1, 2 and 3 point margins against three pretty good teams. By the same token, WVU's domination of Missouri was more than the score indicated and the Mountaineers' performance against Youngstown was less than the score indicated. That happens every game.

But I would be wary of a team that had 3 games against solid opposition that were decided by 1, 2 and 3 points, no matter how that happened.

WVU cannot repeat its Youngstown performance and beat BYU. BYU will not beat WVU if the Mountaineers repeat their Missouri performance, minus some of the opening game glitches that every team has.

We'll see. And we both hope to see my alma mater beat BYU. Whether it's by 1, 2 or 3 or 4 points, it still counts. And a 3-0 WVU will be with Baylor as the only unbeaten Big 12 teams. That isn't chopped liver, although Baylor's OOC schedule is.

I'm not saying that BYU isn't a good team. I'm saying the optics on losing to a 1-2 team when they have to go cross country after we've had a bye week would be pretty bad.

This easily is our best chance at winning this conference. Hopefully we can capitalize.
