Losses to both Maryland and Virginia Tech, two Power 5 bottom-feeders? I don't think so. I'll predict wins vs. LIU, Virginia Tech, Texas Tech, Baylor, TCU, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, and Kansas, for a record of 8-4.

Last year WVU didn't win a road game and only beat 4 of these teams.

Don't expect wins against OU, Texas, OK State or ISU the 4 top teams going in that have beaten Brown every year so far.

Maryland is on the road--Texas found that not an easy win a couple of times a few seasons back. They did beat an under performing PSU last year.

VT has had WVUs number in some of the few games played more recently.

Expect tough games out of both with similar talent on both teams.

I am not qualified at this stage. And I don't make predictions anyway. They are a waste of time. But they do get us through the LONG wait of enduring another boring baseball season.

Clown doesn't even know this only April.

Buckey setting himself up for troll of the year. Pin this thread so we can laugh at his stupidity come December.

WVU is 28-22 against Maryland.
Apparently never played Long Island in football. In basketball, sure, long ago when Long Island was good enough to win by the point margin the mob gave them.
WVU is 28-22 against Virginia Tech, same as against Maryland.
WVU is 2-10 against Oklahoma. The worse number.
WVU is 6-4 against Texas Tech.
WVU is 6-3 against Baylor.
WVU is 6-4 against TCU.
WVU is 5-4 against Iowa State. T
WVU is 4-8 against Oklahoma State. Both Oklahoma teams own us.
WVU is 6-5 against Kansas State.
WVU is 5-5 against Texas.
WVU is 9-1 against Kansas. A gimme.

If we let the numbers, not me, do the talking, then it’s 8-2-1 + Long Island should make it 9-2-1.
Except SIX arethisclose. Split those and it’s 6-5-1 if you add Long Island to the Ws.
Pretty much what Neal Brown did in his second season.
If it’s wrong, don’t snarl at me. Bitch at the numbers.

Too early.

Expect some roster moves.

Teams can start counting transfers as the 2022 class pretty soon.

You will see more roster changes.

Both Kansas schools are horrible.

TCU can be very good. They have weapons on offense. Their defense is always good.
Iowa St, Oklahoma Oklahoma State and Texas are Top 12 in the FPI

Don't know what to make of TX Tech
Dave Aranda is improving the roster. Might take him another year.

For your education

What was Holgs record vs. these teams?

0-1 against Virginia Tech
3-1 Maryland (absolute horrible teams. Even the one he lost to)
0-7 against Oklahoma.
5-2 against Texas Tech. (TEch fought Kansas and ISU for last place during the 5 W's)
5-2 against Baylor. (4 of those were home wins)
3-4 against TCU.
5-2 against Iowa State. (another annual bottom feeder until 2018.)
2-5 against Oklahoma State
3-4 against Kansas State.
4-3 against Texas. (see all the firings in 7 years)
6-1 against Kansas. Lost 31-19 year 2 @ Kansas. Stop the conference longest losing streak ever.

You seem to have left off the 2013 debacle of 37-0 loss to a horrible Maryland by Foldgorsen.

it's 3-1
WVU vs. Maryland last 3 games
2015 W 45-6
2014 W 40-37
2013 L 0-37
2012 W 31-21

Your hero Fraud Rod was 2-3 vs VT.

@ Maryland - W
LIU - W
VT - W
OU - L
Tech - W
@ Baylor - W
@TCU -toss up
ISU - L
OSU - W
@KSU -toss up
Texas L
Kansas W

Most likely 7-5

Bit of luck against the toss up games and it's 9-3.

See how easy predictions are? You can make wins and losses anywhere you want.

FACT--some don't like those. Browns record-no deletion or spin needed:

0-0 against Virginia Tech, Maryland.
0-2 against Oklahoma.
0-2 against Texas Tech.
1-1 against Baylor.
2-0 against TCU.
0-2 against Iowa State.
0-2 against Oklahoma State
2-0 against Kansas State.
0-2 against Texas.
2-0 against Kansas. only 29-24 year one @ Kansas. Its there this year.

Lots of 0fers in there, no matter how you try to spin it.

THOSE NUMBERS SAY 3-5-1. I THINK, AND HOPE TO GOD, WE CAN ADD LONG ISLAND TO MAKE IT 4-5-1 WITH VT AND MD NO-SHOWS SO FAR. 6-4 LAST SEASON. LET'S SEE IF 2021 IS A CLIMB WE CAN TRUST. I'M HOPEFUL AND WILLING TO BE CONVINCED TO TRUST THE CLIMB. BUT SHOW IT TO ME ON THE FIELD THE ONLY PLACE WHERE IT COUNTS.

Fact -- some praise these numbers after 2 years in Big 12. Holgorsen record-no deletion or spin needed:

1-1 against Maryland. Didn't play Virginia Tech until 2017 with best QB and WR in the country and still lost.

1-1 Maryland. (most embarrassing loss ever to Maryland 37-0) in 2nd year
0-2 against Oklahoma.
0-2 against Texas Tech.
1-1 against Baylor.
0-2 against TCU.
1-1 against Iowa State. (yearly bottom feeder back then who's only wins vs KU)
1-1 against Oklahoma State
0-2 against Kansas State.
1-1 against Texas.
1-1 against Kansas. year 2 a 31-19 loss to a Kansas team that had 27 straight losses in conference play

Lots of 0fers in there, no matter how you try to spin it. Along with some god awful losses to horrible teams including Maryland that finished 7-6 with a loss to Marshall in a bowl game. What a joke.

It's obvious you have been to busy trolling to know KU fired their coach and all of KU players are transferring. Of course transferring players are the norm for the country now. Unless it's WVU then clowns like yourself blame the coach.

Holgs 2 years Big 12 conference record of 6-12 (Brown 7-10 most likely 7-11 with loss to OU)

Your comparisons are complete Bull shit.

And that's the concern.

Since all of TCU, KU, KSU and Baylor are on the road and Brown didn't win a game on the road last year, then wins are going to be very tough to come by.

TCU - win
BAYOR - win
KU- blow out win
KSU- toss up

K State will be a much easier game than TCU.

TCU is a weird team...
Let's get that out of the way.

They can be anywhere from a Top 10 team in 2021 to a .500 team.

Their running game will be hard to stop this year
If it is clicking like it was at the end of the year they are every bit as good as Texas, Oklahoma State and Iowa State.

Kendre Miller/Zach Evans is as good of a 1-2 punch at RB that you will get

Quentin Johnson is unreal at WR. Like he is walking on springs.

Just looking at the data.

Literally Brown has only defeated 4 teams ever to date in the conference. Didn't win a road game last year so to think he will defeat all of TCU, Baylor, K State and Kansas on the road is overly optimistic.

TCU is bound to be better. Kansas probably won't be. Baylor is always a tough game for WVU and its there. K State lost to WVU but did beat OU--hard to pick that one but again its over there.

Which of these teams do you see victory from? I see Kansas. The others could go either way.

Brown has never defeated Texas, OU, Texas Tech, OK State or ISU. OU and ISU are supposed to be tops of the league again with Texas close behind. UT's new coach will be much more aggressive defensively and offensively too. OK State pretty much has WVU's number under Brown (and even before). Texas Tech is probably the best bet, but they handled Brown and co last year with a backup QB so....

VT is always a tough out. Maryland could be a win, but usually play very tough in their first few games as Texas found out twice recently.

With 17 players leaving there are bound to be lots of holes in WVUs depth, it is hard to find lots of wins on paper.

AS USUAL, I DON'T PREDICT BEFORE I SEE ACTION ON THE FIELD. IT'S JUST IDLE PRATTLE TILL THEN. BUT IT DOES KEEP US FROM GOING BONKERS WAITING FOR BASEBALL SEASON TO END.

7-5 should be a realistic expectation.

It really comes down to QB play in my opinion. If Doege takes a big step forward and can make things happen instead of relying on the scheme to make plays we could see 8-9 wins.

8-4 or we start talking about at the very least changes to the offensive side of the ball.

Have a hard time seeing 8 or 9 wins but it's very possible. That 7-5 seems reachable and should be. If it's less than 7 then we can talk hot seat.

Brown was 3-2 on the road in his first season against those very teams and should have won 4 losing to Baylor 17-14.

Brown was unbeaten at home last year 5-0.

WVU offense had 3 serious problems last year:

1. QB and receiver not on same page. Receiver zigs and QB throws to a zag.

2. QB over-throws the receiver who is in the right place.

3. Receiver drops the ball.

It's like golf. Unless you master all three phases -- tee shots, fairway shots toward the green and putting in golf -- then you have a problem.

WVU never solved the 3-way riddle consistently enough last season. Do 1, 2 and 3 right on the same play and it's a 70-yard TD pass.

Long Island’s first season of Division 1 football was in 2019, when the Brooklyn Blackbirds and Post Pioneers campuses’ athletic departments merged, after 2 decades in Division II. As C.W. Post, the name of the estate LIU purchased in 1951 to develop a suburban campus, they were in Division III before that.

The Northeast-10 is their FIFTH conference affiliation since 1972 with independent breaks twice.

Their home games are in a 6,000-seat stadium. That’s one zero and 54,000 butts less than WVU’s seating capacity.

Long Island’s main claim to national fame was in basketball when Coach Clair Bee coached them in the 1930s and 1940s.

After the point-shaving scandal of 1951, when Long Island players were paid by the mob to win within the point spread so Vegas could rake in millions, Long Island dropped its entire athletic program until 1957.

😂🤣😂

Biggest problem for WVU last year was pass protection.

Difference between people who know the game and others is seeing the offensive line play

Football is a fast game. Players moving around with people defending them.

If you have time the game opens up.
The issue is getting protected to do so.

In every game WVU had issues with the problem was up front with pass protection.
Not enough time.

Neal Brown tends to be a little on the conservative side

He can in most games because of his defense.

I FOUND THIS INTERESTING IN YOUR POST:

"Difference between people who know the game and others is seeing the offensive line play,"

THAT'S EXACTLY HOW I WATCH WVU GAMES ON TV AND FROM MY MOUNTAINEER FIELD SEAT.

THE TENDENCY FOR MOST FANS IS TO FOLLOW THE FOOTBALL AND THE PERSON WITH IT. I WATCH THE BATTLE BETWEEN THE OFFENSIVE AND DEFENSIVE LINES FIRST.

AND, YES, THE OFFENSIVE LINE LAST SEASON CREATED A LOT OF THE OFFENSE PROBLEMS. BUT IT'S THE TASK OF THE QB AND THE RECEIVERS TO DO AS WELL AS THEY CAN UNDER THAT SITUATION. ERRANT THROWS AND DROPPED PASSES GET A SHARE OF THE BLAME. BUT I AGREE, THE OFFENSIVE LINE IS THE FIRST PLACE EVERY SUCCESSFUL COACH BUILDS WHEN HE COMES TO A NEW SCHOOL.

This is why Neal Brown is a good coach.

He worries about things he can fix.

Most important thing he is worried about is the OL.
Pass protection.

Football is about QB play.
Defense is about hitting the QB

What is between the two is the OL.
Improve the OL play you improve the QB play
