On second thought, WVU has been producing more than NFL-caliber players. West Virginia University has found its groove in pumping out top tier talent.

WVU has had one first round pick three of the last four years. In 2012, Bruce Irvin went 15th overall to the Seattle Seahawks. A year later in 2013, the St. Louis Rams chose Tavon Austin with the eighth pick. Then in 2015, the Chicago Bears selected Kevin White with the seventh overall pick in the NFL Draft.

It's a trend that you typically see with the Alabama's, USC's and Florida State's of the world. Those programs do it consistently, which is the next step for WVU. But as it currently stands, West Virginia has gained some serious momentum with the recent NFL Draft success.

After Kevin White's name was called on Thursday night from the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago, WVU head coach Dana Holgorsen released a statement on the future of his former receiver, while also referencing the magnitude of the selection in terms of Mountaineer Football.

This is a great night for not only Kevin [White] but for the West Virginia football program,” Holgorsen said in a statement released by the University on Thursday night. “Kevin has worked extremely hard and dedicated himself to become one of the best receivers in the country and a first-round NFL draft pick. I continue to say that he has a huge upside and will have a great NFL career. I am happy for Kevin and want to congratulate him and his family and wish him luck with the Chicago Bears.”

WVU always has had skill players. It has been the LOS where the program lacks top tier talent.
We've had some good skill players in the past but never have we had this many 1st round draft picks. 2WRs and a DE.
