The Wolverines got a lot of credit early in the year with a dominating win over Florida. Well, today that is a laughable analogy as the Gators have gotten worse every week and fired their coach halfway through the season. Here’s a fact: Michigan’s wins are over opponents with a combined record of 31-48. They have beaten Florida (3-6), Cincinnati (3-7), Air Force (4-6), Purdue (4-6), Indiana (4-6,in overtime), Rutgers (4-6), Minnesota (5-5) and Maryland (4-6). That may be the worst resume’ of a top 25 playoff ranking team since it came into existence. This poll is supposedly about quality wins. What Michigan’s ranking tells me is that if you beat ZERO teams with winning records, you will be rewarded for it. And when they lose to Wisconsin this weekend, the committee can protect its beloved Big 10 and point to a win over a ranked team for the Badgers. The bias is strong here

Are you attempting to make a case for 7-3 WVU, who owns wins over college football's elite programs...Delaware State, Kansas, East Carolina, Texas Tech, Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas State...do tell us the combined record of the teams you mustered wins over.

Due to the overwhelming sound of crickets in the air, and the fact that Couch has conveniently exited this thread, I'll go ahead and make the case for the fearless 7-3 WVU football squad.

Wins:
Kansas, 1-9
Baylor, 1-9
Delaware State, 2-8
East Carolina, 2-8
Texas Tech, 5-5
Kansas State, 5-5
Iowa State, 6-4

That's 7 wins against opponents with a combined record of 22-48.

No, I work for a living. But, your attempt to juxtapose WVU's schedule of wins over Michigan's just drives home the point. Michigan is ranked in name only.

Then perhaps check out Sagarin's rankings, which don't take into account the name on the jersey. Michigan #18, WVU #30.

And, they suck.

Ergo the reason for the OP. With Michigan's resume I don't see how they are remotely ranked. WVU would hammer the Fighting Harbaughs. And, Michigan will end the season with 2 consecutive losses. Come back at the end of the season and compare accomplishments.

Well of course WVU would wipe Michigan out. lol I keep holding out hope, but I'm still hoping one of these days you boys can view yourselves as what you truly are in the world of college athletics.

I don't have a problem with Michigan being ranked. Their schedule has 10 P-5's on it, as does our own. My problem is with teams like UCF and Memphis being ranked while only playing one game each against P-5 programs. More proof that the P-5's need to split away from the G-5. Let the G-5 have their own little "championship".

I agree, as well as expand the playoffs to 16 teams.

The G5 has no business trying to compete against bigger schools with more resources. There will always be a few that stand out every season, and could occasionally beat a top P5 program, but they wouldn't be able to withstand playing that level of competition week end and week out.

UCF would roll your ass, ask Baylor
