Predicted to finish dead last in the Big 12, and today won the conference championship.

One would presume that the transfer portal and NIL has now made projections darn near impossible.

I just hope that we hire the right coach and at least become a contender in the Big 12.

This board had the debate awhile back once the portal rules loosened and NIL was becoming inevitable, and I remember a lot of doomsayers saying that this new landscape would be the death of us ever competing for anything. While we have sucked during this era, we have seen some pretty unusual names rise to the top of conferences, and the SEC is not the Bama show any longer. There is obviously a path for similar program to make noise in this landscape, we just need the right hire. Parity is going to be huge in this era. The Bamas and Georgias cannot just sell kids a bag of shit anymore and stash them on their second teams forever. Kids who are good enough and want to play will find a home. Kids need reps to improve, it will be a better overall product.
