Here's an excerpt recently from Briles of Baylor regarding their season going forward after two dissapointing losses:

"If you're alive, you can have hope, you can have goals, and you can have purpose. That's where we are," Briles said. "We have a bunch of that in front of us. We can have a tremendously fulfilling season by taking care of the business at hand. ... Let's handle what we can handle — what's in front of us. We can't change what's behind us."

This would be equally appropriate at WVU-especially to certain fickle "fans"--- where a 9-4 season with a bowl victory is still attainable after a winless October including a narrow loss to Oklahoma State.

For the record, I predicted 9-4 in August and people told me I was nutz, a homer, way too optimistic. Now they think we should fire Dana even if he achieves this goal.

Agenda? You decide!

Please provide a link to any legitimate poster who has stated Holgorsen should be fired if the team finishes 9-4. Thanks.

Oh it was said. I fully expect that they will show up here and own it too. They always do.

trustew said it the other day. He said if next year is the same as this year we need to replace holgorsen.

what these posters don't understand is a few things, 1.) the big 12 is not the big east 2.) Wvu is not a blue blood like Alabama and others. We can't demand 11-1 or 12-0 seasons. We aren't that type of program and likely never will be.

The truth is, WVU fans got spoiled in the new big east under Rodriguez. A few upsets against Oklahoma and Georgia made our fans believe that was typical of this program. Those teams were more a rarity for WVU than the norm.

If you would have told me 15 years ago that WVU would be in the Big12 and would win 7-9 games a year consistently I would have taken it. That would have said two things to me. 1. WVU was able to compete at the highest level of college football respectively. 2. If WVU was able to achieve that then there would be opportunities to win more than 7-9 games at the highest level of college football. Beating Oklahoma in a bowl game is completely different than competing against teams like Oklahoma week in week out during conference play. WVU is in a better place than it has ever been. And I'm thankful for that.

I was with you until you said that....now i think your nuts....noone said he should be fired if he goes 9-4.....That is still an "if"....KSU will be Sky High and they won't lay down.....If he gets the 9-4 record then I think he should also get an extension....JMHO....

There a quite a few on here that think he should be fired!! Why do you think KSU will be sky high?

That is next year. I have never said that a 9-4 season this year should end with our coach being fired. NEVER! which was what the original poster said. As for next season, what I said was that our schedule gives Holgorsen every opportunity to show our program is headed in the right direction. We should beat a lower tier SEC team in Missouri with a new head coach and we should also be able to beat BYU. Those two victories are much better than our OOC victories this season. And we should be able to beat a team or two in the conference that we should not beat. None of these are too big of expectations in a coaches 6th season. But you can spin my words any way you like.

apparently you can't even read my words you attached to your own post lol. I said that you posted Holgorsen should be replaced if next year is like this year. We might win 9 games this year. So you said that wouldn't be acceptable next year. Just more proof you continue talking out your a$$

Can WVU be a consistent 10 win plus program? Yes it can.

But they aren't going to get there overnight--it must be built. Its much tougher to build that sort of program in a conference like the BIG 12 compared to where WVU was prior to that. There's still football to be played this year and hopefully WVU will win all remaining games to cap off a very good but very difficult season and build on that next year.

Outside of oklahoma and a good Texas team none of the other Big 12 teams are blue bloods

who said the others were? Pay attention to the post. Demanding and expecting WVU to be 11-1 or 12-0 every year would make WVU a blue blood. They aren't. That's the point. If they were, you could expect that in any league.

If we had a better QB, better play calling and clock management we would have had a better record last year and this year. Wvu can do much better than 7-5 in this conferncece
