Wonder What Geno Smith Was Fighting About?

Jury is out on Geno as an NFL player but a excellent college QB....sad news!

Obviously I'm biased, but I don't feel Geno has really been given a legitimate chance in the NFL. Sure, he was named the starter ... but on a team who "upgraded" the receiving corp by bringing in Decker as a #1, when he's a #3 on any other team. Also a team with a pretty porous OL.

No time to throw it and nobody to throw it to. He's been the victim of a lot of drops also. You could easily argue that he had a better receiver corp in college than he has with the Jets since 2 of them are now starters for the Rams.

I'm absolutely NOT comparing him to Peyton Manning, but when Manning broke the season TD record quite a few of them were screens that the receiver or back broke for a TD. Geno has never had anybody to get a "cheap" TD pass for him.

Shitty organization ... yes.
However, they didn't really "allow" the 6th round pick to do it. It happened and he's been released.

You need to have procedures/rules in place to protect your franchise players. I'm sure the Broncos have procedures in place that prevent stupid crap like this from happening to Peyton. Granted, Geno is no Peyton, but my point is still valid. I was really surprised Scam Newton got in a tussle with the Panthers DB yesterday. Crap like that shouldn't happen. I'm sure this guy's NFL playing days are over. Same deal with the Patriots and Brady.

I agree, but what if somebody decides not to follow them?
Apparently this guy had assault charges against him before the draft and they drafted him anyway.

If I'm an NFL owner and I have a guy like Brady or Peyton Manning, I'm telling the entire offensive line their job is to protect the QB on and OFF the field, including the locker room and including protecting him from teammates. Your point is well taken. Nothing is fool proof or idiot proof. It's just a shame something senseless like this happens.

I think a lot of NFL teams have coaches accompany the team in the locker rooms so stupid crap like this doesn't happen. And of course they have stiff fines in place for fighting.

I agree, he's had no help with the NYJ. I think Geno can play but from a personal standpoint I always feared Pat White more, I felt like he could take it to the house on every down.

I agree completely. If it seems like I'm arguing with you, I'm not. I'm sure they do have all of those things in place, but without knowing the details of exactly what happened, maybe nobody could get to him in time. The OL aren't going to stand guard around his locker to protect against their own teammate (former teammate now).

Stiff fines for fighting ... in this case, dismissal from the team, and good luck landing anyplace else. Anybody that would sucker punch their own starting QB is likely to have a hard time find a spot in the NFL.

Idiot most likely just ended his career.
