Conferences don't get extra money for making the playoffs. Each P5 conference gets a base payout of ~$50 million from the CFP. You then get an additional $6 million for each team in a NY6 game. The only exception is if the game is a contract bowl, i.e. the Sugar Bowl for the Big 12.

(1) Each conference will receive $300,000 for each of its schools when the school’s football team meets the NCAA’s APR for participation in a post-season football game. Each independent institution will also receive the $300,000 when its football team meets that standard.

(2) Each of the 10 conferences will also receive a base amount. For conferences that have contracts for their champions to participate in the Orange, Rose or Sugar Bowl, the base combined with the full academic performance pool will be approximately $51 million for each conference. The five conferences that do not have contracts for their champions to participate in the Orange, Rose or Sugar Bowls will receive approximately $79 million in aggregate (full academic pool plus base), which the conferences will distribute as they choose. Notre Dame will receive a payment of $2.58 million if it meets the APR standard; the other two independents will share $618,241.

(3) A conference will receive $6 million for each team that is selected for the semifinal games. There will be no additional distribution to conferences whose teams qualify for the national championship game. A conference will receive $4 million for each team that plays in a non-playoff bowl under the arrangement (in 2014-2015, the Cotton, Fiesta and Peach Bowls).

(4) Each conference whose team participates in a playoff semifinal, Cotton, Fiesta or Peach Bowl, or in the national championship game will receive $2.08 million to cover expenses for each game.

Additionally, certain conferences in the Football Championship Subdivision conferences will receive $2.34 million in aggregate

Oklahoma they have the biggest tradition of all the Big 12 teams available and they have television appeal which is all the committee cares about. Just look at Notre Dame they have done nothing its all about money and rating

I think the Big 12 gets left out again unless Notre Dame loses to Stanford. With Ok State losing, now OU will not be beating an undefeated team, which they needed, by beating Ok State. The committee does not wants Big 12 team in the playoff and will do everything to get ND in.

Too early to count the cash. MSU will jump OU. The ND win was not a good one so it will be a toss up with OU who had a less impressive win. The committee has all the power.

Oklahoma has a very good shot now. Clemson and Bama could still lose, but assuming they win out, they are in.

The only teams left with a shot assuming there is not a crazy series of upsets are OU, Iowa, MSU and ND. In all likelihood the Big 10 champ will be in but the other will be out. (You could still get a team losing its regular season finale but winning the conference)

OU v. ND. The ONLY point in favor of ND is it beat Texas and OU lost to Texas. The games were early and that kind of common team comparison is not near as important as overall record, SOS and just how the teams look to the trained eye. Same record, better SOS for Oklahoma and no one credible can claim ND looks to be as strong a team as the Sooners. There would be outrage if ND got the nod over OU, and it's not as if OU is some upstart program without plenty of juice.

i agree, due to listening to ESPN today, and after Baylor Coach talked, the panel was asked about Baylor chances. none, plus if ND wins they will get in, or Stanford wins out , they may get in. might be two SEC or one of the BIG 10 and ND. but it will happen again, i fear.

Baylor's chances have nothing to do with OU's chances. Stanford already has 2 losses and it would take a series of upsets for it to even be in the running at this point. The SEC won't get 2 teams this year. Florida is the only other 1 loss team remaining; even SEC homers accept this is not a great year by SEC standards and if UF were to upset Bama, Bama would get knocked out in favor of ND not OU.

Barring crazy upsets, the Big 10 and the SEC each get 1 team and Clemson is a lock as ACC champion. If a 1 loss champion gets excluded it will be from the ACC.

That would leave OU v. ND (or possibly both if UNC stuns Clemson).

OU finishing up 1 loss has a much better resume than ND. ND's best win would be over Stanford; its second best win would be.... take your pick but, not an impressive one.

There are still a lot of good games and rivalry games left among non-big 12 contenders. The big 12 needs a couple of upsets at this point, I suspect.

Clemson has South Carolina and UNC left
Alabama has Auburn and Florida left.
ND has to play Stanford.
Iowa has to play at Nebraska and then the big ten title game.
MSU has Penn State and (probably) the big ten title game.
Florida plays Florida State and then (probably) Alabama.

It would be interesting to see whether the committee would leave out the SEC if Florida loses to FSU and then beats Alabama. Probably won't happen but you never know.

Lgm!
