Probably will expand to replace the teams that have jumped ship. Just hope we are one of the teams with a bus ticket out of town.UCONN had issues and could not compete in AAC. Big no for them.
CSU no
SMU no
USF no
Temple no
Boise and Memphis are best available. But they're not Texas and OU.
If Arizona and Arizona State would happen to join with them it would be great. But I don't see PAC 12 teams jumping ship.
According to Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports, Boise State and Memphis are “among the schools being discussed” to be included in a second round of expansion for the Big 12. But Dodd noted that it’s unlikely any more schools will be added until after 2024.
He added that Big 12 expansion could be an "8-10 year process."
BYU is joining the Big 12 in 2023, then UCF, Cincinnati and Houston will be in no later than July 1, 2024. Once that happens, there will be 12 schools in the conference.
So if the Big 12 decides to further expand, it could potentially feature 14 schools or even more.
How's your racist president Biden doing? I hear he's 33% approval rating. Lowest all time. If you take out California and NY it's about 10%.The fool who worked day and night to chase off WVUs successful football coachand champions the current loser, railed against the former AD who saved WVU sports by getting WVU into the BIG 12 , because it wasn’t the acc ( even though same AD explained the acc was never interested in nor would it invite WVU). berated anyone who said the BIG 12 should indeed expand, should add a CCG, on and on- calling someone who got it all 100%correct a “ dumbass”, when said troll is the description of dumbass in the dictionary. Classic. And talk about being negative, idiot, you worked day and night to push out the second winningest football coach ever at WVU for the worst coach in decades. You put down every player that walks through the door and champion boorish behavior from ie coaches. You do more to damage WVU athletics each time you post your backwards thoughts than anyone else could do in a lifetime.
UNLVHave to wonder whats best to go with. Brand or Market. Is geography important.
Gundy thinks Boise is a brand, and some media execs may agree, but their market( while a very nice city) isn’t a major one. Geography a problem for all but BYU. Good fan support but not a huge fanbase.
Memphis a bit better market just outside top 50. And basketball definitely a brand, but their football is fairly new to having lots of success. Geographically they fit well with the next group of teams. Good fanbase and large stadium.
Who else out there is a brand assuming the PAC stays together?
Uconn for mens and womens bb, but their football is all but dead at the moment. However there may not be a better market than the northeast. Football had some good years in the Big East once upon a time. Unlikely but possible.
So then what are the markets? And no no one thinks these teams dominate a market, but that may not matter as much as gaining a presence when it comes to $$.
# 4 Philadelphia. Temple- recently some good football before Baylor took their coach. Basketball always decent . Northeast corridor and closer to WVU but lots of “ but it’s Temple” stigma. Smallish fanbase.
Tampa a top 20 media market. USF at times played good football but no on campus stadium and fan base questionable and do you want Two FL teams?
Colorado State is in the Denver market and a nice school but sports never really stood out. Geography works in west.
SMU? Two teams in DFW or another TX team needed? Did used to be in a power conference though.
Whomever brings the most media revenue- hard to say.
Of course since you ignore REALITY, you pretend that social media has 0 effect in things. The January 6 attack on our nation by right wing crazies, many influenced negatively by - you got it - social media, proves that is 100% false. And lets get real--you and troll Allen are here to influence people away from discussing real problems with WVU athletics and to inject whatever you are trying to push on the fanbase. Pumping the b.s. with every post. Such as the BIG 12 didn't need to expand, the same teams now coming in weren't good enough to expand with, Luck should have put WVU into the acc, players that leave all suck and weren't worth a damn anyway (of course when they came in you stated the complete opposite when blowing smoke). Its so obvious its absurd. Now you are trying to influence everyone to ignore their eyesight and convince them that its ok for a coach making $10,000 something PER DAY to lose the majority of games he coaches. So WVUAllen pushed out Holgersen with negative posts and you are doing the same with the current head coach.
I wasn’t aware that the MMB posters play a major factor in hiring and firing head coaches.
Problem with UNLV is their sports have virtually no success, and they are very far away from everyone but maybe BYU. The tvmarket (Neilsen DMA) is around # 40 (2021). Tampa in comparison is #13 (2021) and Philly #4 and Denver #16.UNLV
Large market
First off. What does the capital riots have to do with WVU football?Of course since you ignore REALITY, you pretend that social media has 0 effect in things. Difference in coaches--HOLGORSEN--second winningest coach in WVU history, averaged 8 wins per season at WVU last several years. 7 overall due to 1 losing season.
BROWN--worst coach at WVU in decades, hasn't approached averaging 7 wins per season, has never even won 7 games in a season at WVU. Average is around 5 games per season.
I mean its not even a question. Its pretty clear posters like you WANT WVU to lose. Holgorsen had WVU mere points from getting into the BIG 12 championship. He had some of the best offenses in the nation.
Brown has WVU leading the nation in such things as worst rushing in the country and 8th worst # of drops by WRs. Under Brown WVU now struggles to stay out of last place in the conference.
Why would ANYONE want to keep a coach that can only win 5 or 6 games per season (and that includes Kansas and an FCS squad) when WVU historically has averaged far more than that? Why are you ok with chasing off a coach who was winning at a clip BETTER than WVUs historical average? Obviously no FAN of WVU would do this.
You are such a jackass. Can't complete an answer without resorting to insults. Bucky makes a good point. Maybe you should listen more instead of veiled attempts to demonstrate any level of intelligence. And yes I insulted you...and meant too.Baylor going no place.
Oklahona State will only go SEC because of Oklahoma.
Iowa State brings nothing
Kansas? Big 10 is no that desperate.
Cincinnati, UCF, Houston are only in Big 12 because OU and Texas exiting.
BYU PAC was stupid not to take them years ago.
Quit with your dream world of death and destruction dumbass.
Nobody pushed out Dana Holgorsen he left on his own accord. Only a minority of the fan base actually read these boards and a smaller minority actually post. The powers that be don't make their decisions based on what anyone on here says. They probably haven't read anything that's posted on here. The fool who worked day and night to chase off WVUs successful football coachand champions the current loser, railed against the former AD who saved WVU sports by getting WVU into the BIG 12 , because it wasn’t the acc ( even though same AD explained the acc was never interested in nor would it invite WVU). berated anyone who said the BIG 12 should indeed expand, should add a CCG, on and on- calling someone who got it all 100%correct a “ dumbass”, when said troll is the description of dumbass in the dictionary. The attempted coup of the U.S. is an example as you are aware of social media influencing actions. Besides, if you didn't believe social media had any influence you wouldn't be here daily trying to influence people's opinions, now would you?First off. What does the capital riots have to do with WVU football?
If Lyons is basing all his moves with in the athletic department on what people post on Facebook or twitter, then he and any other AD doing so should be fired.
Please find my post(s) where I stated that the Big 12 shouldn’t expand, Oliver Luck getting WVU in the ACC, and said that the players leaving sucked.
My belief is that the worst regular season record should be 9-3 this coming season. Otherwise he’s gone.
This is 100% false. Of course if he had felt and was shown that he was wanted at the school then he would still be here. Instead he got endless personal attacks based on lies, disrespect from fans and admins alike such as holding up his contracts, lowballing and pushing coaches with wv ties on him, as well as pushing away high caliber recruits and then blaming him when they didn't come to WV.Nobody pushed out Dana Holgorsen he left on his own accord. Holgorsen wasn't fired he left because he wanted to leave. You need to stop this false reality you live in. Every coach in America gets criticized by fans. It comes with the territory. How many posters actually post on this board on a regular basis? Is that number anywhere close to the amount that attend football and basketball games? Texas and Oklahoma aren't leaving the big 12 because fans on message boards wanted them to leave. They left for a bigger paycheck. This is 100% false. A relentless attack until he finally had enough.
Even after he left people still trying to pretend his accomplishments at WVU were not significant.
In fact from time to time PLAYERS and their families have commented right here that they saw negative posts and it influenced their decision making. The AD at Notre Dame commented on social media affecting his fanbase and decision making. Boosters most certainly read the messages, it gets into other media too via reporters who read the sites (not just here).
Texas and Oklahoma didn't just wake up and leave the BIG 12, there was a decade long effort in social media to fill the fanbase, thus the boosters, thus the administration with a strong desire to leave based mostly on lies, so that when an offer was made everyone was in. The war was over years before any fight started.
Now people are trying to sell WVU fans that 5 wins is all that should be expected, after selling that 7 wins wasn't good enough.
Again, clearly an effort to tear down WVU athletics.
Holgorsen was denied a contract not once but TWICE. He was libeled and slandered daily. You need to get back to reality and stop pretending that didnt happen- and all because he replaced another coach And some backwards thinkers didn’t like that.Holgorsen wasn't fired he left because he wanted to leave. Mountaineers more like 5-7 and 6-6. Your boy Holgy still not returning. The attempted coup of the U.S. is an example as you are aware of social media influencing actions. Besides, if you didn't believe social media had any influence you wouldn't be here daily trying to influence people's opinions, now would you?
I'd be happy to find your posts, just as soon as I can search posts back to 2016 on this site. Since that's not possible, then neither is posting you and others endless posts ridiculing the idea of adding the very same schools now coming on board.
There's about a 1% chance the Mountaineers will be 9-3 this season.
There wasn’t a need to expand a few years back and that if they would of done it, the TV money would of been divided up more. There was not a clause in the contract to do so.There could be more realignment. Don’t buy the bunk that magically WVU will be ok. Cincinnati and UCF have been better on the football field and Houston is making strides too. BYU would have won the PAC last year. All these schools have resources in droves ahead of WVU and are making big strides academically. WVU can’t rest on its laurels- we see how that worked out with no expansion a few yrs back. Had those schools been added then the BIG 12 would be in a much stronger Position today. WVU needs to concentrate on winning big in this new conference and 5 wins a year ( and no NCAA appearance) is not going to cut it.
There was a need and the BIG 12 had a clause for pro rata for everyone in luding the new schools. WVu, Texas, Oklahoma ALL would have made more revenue and as predicted OU and UT left anyway- so that blows up the then argument theyd leave if those schools were added- didnt matter either way. If theyd have been added theyd be established P5 programs rather than new- the BIG 12 would probably have their own network at least in the works if not established. It wouldnt be the question mark or new situation well all be looking at now. There wasn’t a need to expand a few years back and that if they would of done it, the TV money would of been divided up more. There was not a clause in the contract to do so.
Winning the Big East and stomping Clemson were impressive accomplishments and noticed nationally. Not surprising as the troll you are you try to diminish them because of who brought them to WVU.The deal was pretty much done before the Orange Bowl and if finishing in a 3 way tie and getting the BCS bowl based on rankings impressed the Big 12?
Holgorsen was given a new contract in 2016 after a 10 win season. He was denied a new contract after the 2015 and 2018 season. You're not going to get a new contact in 2015 in your fifth year for going 7-5 and earning a berth in a lower tier bowl game. Quite a few coach's would have been fired for that. You're not going to get a new contract for falling flat on your face at the end of the 2018 season. The only troll is yourself. Look at Auburn and Lsu they fired coach's that won national championships. You haven't a clue of how the business world works.Holgorsen was denied a contract not once but TWICE. He was libeled and slandered daily. You need to get back to reality and stop pretending that didnt happen- and all because he replaced another coach And some backwards thinkers didn’t like that.
But now he is gone and the coach at WVU has failed miserably at the worst possible time. Fools like you keep trying to prolong the inevitable and it’s going to leave WVU a g 5 program. Posters like yourself trying to pack bs onto this board and block logical factual discussion have been wrong at every turn and it’s rapidly driving WVU into the dregs, yet you keep pushing it. Your savior coach has failed. We will likely see it again with yet another losing season and you’ll still be here trying to squelch anyone trying to discuss the reality of the situation. It’s pathetic.
Um Brown won 5 games two seasons in a row and for some odd reason they gave him a new contract- kinda blows up you dont give a coach who was delivering the average wins for WVU, but also had 10 win seasons and a major bowl win in historic fashion one. It was a serious mistake to not extend Holgorsen both times and also to not get the finances for the best possible defensive staff to go with his outstanding offenses. Not giving him extensions coupled with the negativity projected on him chased off numerous recruits and likely directly cost wins.Holgorsen was given a new contract in 2016 after a 10 win season. Like I said. The deal was done before the bowl. This helped WVUs cause just as the losing seasons now being entrenched will not help things.
Whats amazing is- none of your attempts at diminishing Dh’s impressive accomplishments address that Brown hasnt even sniffed that sort of success at WVU. WVU is not “ mediocre under Brown- they are HORRIBLE. Its the worst coaching effort at WVU in DECADES. Which makes one wonder why in the world are you trying to both diminish BETTER accomplishments while also trying to act like worse accomplishments are superior? They arent and everyone can see it with their own eyes despite your trolling spinLike I said. The deal was done before the bowl. 3 way tie with Cincinnati and Louisville was impressive with a 5-2 record? Doesn’t make sense. Five teams within a game of each other doesn’t reek of dominance. More of mediocrity. Makes me wonder why you whine about Brown’s record so much.
When did I ever endorse Lyons decision to given Brown a new contract? Holgorsen was given a new contract after the Orange Bowl. He won with a team that he didn't recruit. He never showed that he could assemble a team capable of winning a championship. In year 5 with his own recruits he went 7-5 and won his only bowl with a team he assembled. Nothing special about that. Todd Graham was fired after 7 years at Asu and had exactly the same record as Holgorsen. Georgia won the national championship last season. How many coach's did they have to go through over the years to find the right guy? Brown hasn't turned out to be the right guy at this point but Holgorsen wasn't either. It became clear after the 2018 season that he would never get wvu to the pinnacle. You don't keep a guy who's team continually collapsed at the end of every season. You try someone else. Its what Georgia did and every other team that desires to be better than 7-5 and a lower tier bowl game.Um Brown won 5 games two seasons in a row and for some odd reason they gave him a new contract- kinda blows up you dont give a coach who was delivering the average wins for WVU, but also had 10 win seasons and a major bowl win in historic fashion one. Bucky-root has no idea what she speaks of. WVU was already going to BIG 12 before your boyfriend even got here DUMBASS. The future of realignment is how much can you make us on streaming.Troll Allen’s boy Brown has not won at WV. First two seasons had 5 wins in the regular season. Last year improved to 6. Troll Allen wants you to believe this doesn’t matter. It does matter if you care about WVU football and want to see a successful program.
Its a big problem for a school considered not to have a large media market or strong academics To NOT be successful in its major sports. Holgorsen winning the Big East and slaughtering Clemson after the success RR had made a huge difference in WVU getting invited to the BIG 12 or being left behind in the AAC as some other schools like UConn and USF were. Going forward as more realignment happens, WVU will need to be at the top of its game. Hopefully the new O Coord will get more wins because Brown o his own has peaked and it’s not pretty.
He likes to make stuff up to impress himself with his losing arguments. When did I ever endorse Lyons decision to given Brown a new contract? Holgorsen was given a new contract after the Orange Bowl. Holgorsen was given a raise and extension after Orange Bowl win that gave him his 10th win. Bucky mysteriously continues leaving out Brown's bowl win and only counts regular season. Holgorsen best season was 2016 10 win year. Even though the Big 12 was super weak that year and he lost a winnable bowl game. He also lost to the only 2 good teams in the conference.Whats amazing is- none of your attempts at diminishing Dh’s impressive accomplishments address that Brown hasnt even sniffed that sort of success at WVU. I think Brown has 2 more years to get it done mostly because of the buy out. Its possible he could get the ax if the team really tanks hard. I doubt that will happen though. I think the team will be better this year. Whether the improvement is enough to inspire confidence remains to be seen. I don't think Harrell is a coach in waiting. If we moved on from Brown I think we would try someone else with HC experience.Holgorsen was given a raise and extension after Orange Bowl win that gave him his 10th win. Get over your hate of current program and move on. Brown doesn't win this year then he will be gone. I thought he would get 2 more but with the OC Harrell they brought in this might very well be a HC in waiting. Just never know.
You thought the team would be better last year too and it ended up exactly the same. This year its essentially a new team because the majority of the talent on the team left and newbies will be leading the team. The best outlook is the new O coordinator coaches lights out and gets the team some much needed wins. Brown as we have seen is good for about 5 per season as long as WVU has Kansas and an FCS on the schedule.I think Brown has 2 more years to get it done mostly because of the buy out. Show me a post where I said the team would be better last season? You like to make things up as you go. When you say the majority of the talent on the team has left what talent are you referring too? You're not very good with numbers are you? You said Brown is only good for 5 wins a season well he won six the last two seasons. For a guy who complains that people did nothing but Libel Holgorsen for 8 years your showing that you're exactly the same.
