Why do we get so wrapped up in "experts"?

PRESEASON WEEK 6

  1. Alabama 1. Alabama
  2. Clemson 2. Ohio State
  3. Oklahoma 3. Clemson
  4. Florida State 4. Michigan
  5. Ohio State 5. Washington
  6. LSU 6. Houston
  7. Stanford 7. Louisville
  8. Michigan 8. Texas A&M
  9. Notre Dame 9. Tennessee
  10. Tennessee 10. Miami

In both top 10s:

Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson, Michigan, Tennessee.

Not in preseason top 10:

Washington, Houston, Louisville, Texas A&M, Miami.

The lesson here:

A monkey throwing feces against the wall would have been as accurate as the “experts” who really didn’t know that much about this year’s personnel and teams. Oh, they had stats, they had parameters. But it didn’t mean diddly.

Tossing a coin would have come out 50/50, which is what the experts got.

And it’s only been 6 weeks. HALFWAY through the season. No “expert” will get the final top 10 right today. Not till early December when everyone is as “smart” as they are.

Just let them play the games and then, and only then, will be know which are the best teams and belong in the Football Final Four.

:eyes:

I thought you were the expert.
 Smart enough to say before every season: "I don't have a clue. I'll wait till I see them play."

All the "experts" have egg on their face every year, and faulty memories later.

How can anyone predict what 18 to 22 year olds will do, in football or in a car or with the females? That's what I love about college football. It's so unpredictable. And the feeling in Mountaineer Field on Saturday when WVU rose like Lazarus from the dead to overcome a 13-point deficit IN THE 4TH QUARTER! All 61,700 of us, maybe the largest crowd in a decade, went nuts! I was the nuttiest of them all (and you can have fun with that line at my expense). With a bye week, WVU fans including me can have two weeks of euphoria before the real world returns.

Its fairly predictable in the sense that you know Alabama will be in the playoff every year and has atleast a 50/50 shot to take home the whole thing. After that, who knows. If you give me 10 guesses preseason of who the other 3 are I could probably get 2 correct.

In the internet age people give themselves credentials that seemingly warrant any title of there choosing.

It's actually comical.

Orgeron will beat Alabama.

Even if he does, and Alabama does typically lose 1 game per season, they are still going to make the playoff.

That's the perks of winning 4 national titles in 7 years and being the defending champ. All WVU has to do is match that and it will be in with 1 loss every year, too.

Those Monongah High boys make great coaches.
