Every other league has preseason but NCAA. Why is this? I think all teams should play 1 scrimmage game. Then perhaps you would have more teams beefing up their 1st week schedules.

...but more on-topic...I think playing a (semi) local team in a scrimmage would be good for both teams. ....FSU (Aka Fairmont) or their peer Marshall come to mind.

When it's only your players you can control them a little better but coaches are going to worry that Edward's College third string DB is going to make a name for himself by crushing your quarterback. Personally I would love to see it but that's just one of the reasons you'll hear from coaches.
You're good... ...you tossed out Edward's College knowing that I was their first female kicker (third in college football history)... ...yet, third string.
Depends on whether you are talking about scrimmages with other P5 teams or lower level schools. P5 teams won't scrimmage each other because it will just end up turning into another game.
You know one thing that sucks about every other league? Preseason games.
