Licking their wounds, coming up with other excuses (we are seeing the "well the Big East blah blah blah" already), and saying that it's our fault for having expectations better than 7-5 or 6-6 (even though their beloved Oliver Luck had that same expectation of "Championships" when he made the decision to go with Holgorsen).
We are in year #5 with Holgorsen, correct? First year was in the Big East with Stewart players. Since he has been in the Big 12 with his players, we are well under .500. So, how long is long enough?
The most prominent one was in Arizona running his mouth and his baseball team. Any other questions?
Actually, some of Luck's people skills are very good. He's very good with people in position to help him advance his career. He's not so great with employees and others who lack enough money or power to do anything but be angry or hurt when he treats them dismissively.
did you ever meet or talk with Luck? I'm not rich or powerful and he treated me nicely and spent time to talk with me the few times I did run into him. I'd say his people skills were fine. Remember, if it wasn't for the good ol boys who wanted Stew to stay around (many of whom ARE rich and powerful), Luck would probably have canned Stew on day 1. Just sayin.
Luck did what he needed to do but anytime you try to make as many changes as he did at such a fast pace some mistakes are going to be made. I think Luck tried to fix the Dana issue on his way out the door but to no success.
It could be worse you could be Pitt. Our program is stuck in a joke conference and it makes our record look good at times and then reality hits you right in the face when we have to play a real team. Narduzzi will leave us in a year or two anyway and we'll be right back to being a program that everyone laughs at.
Yes, many times. In school and again years later when he was on the BOG and then AD. I was not alluding only to Stewart. I didn't mean he is incapable of carrying on a friendly, casual conversation in a social setting.
Sometimes people get their feeling hurt when the boss wants things done and they don't produce. I don't have a problem with him stepping on toes and holding people accountable. The only thing I think he got wrong, and he admits it, was the HC in waiting. If people want to complain because he was mean to them at work, so be it.

Ridiculous - Support has never been better and the athletic department is in great shape for years to come. Marshall folks dislike Luck because he ended the football series with them and the Raese ass kissers all got kicked to the curb. Most WVU fans are thankful that both things happened.
I really like Luck. He did a lot of great things for The University, including getting us into a real conference. As many great things as Luck did, the glaring mistake of giving an unwarranted golden parachute to Dana cannot be overlooked...
Lucks overall body of work was good. The IMG deal was a good deal, but how the bidding process took place was not good (and WVU had to write a check to make it go away). Dana is turning out to be Ollie's biggest mistake and its one that we will pay for years to come.
Really think Stewart was the one to lead to the promise land? I am just waiting for the light to come and for people to realize that we are now in a power conference and Holgorsen still gives us the best chance at being competitive in the Big 12.
What have you seen out of Dana, as a head coach, that makes you think that he is the right guy?
Dana does have a few really good victories, since starting here. He also has the following :
A blowout loss to #86 Syracuse in 2011
A blowout loss to Syracuse in a bowl game
A blowout loss to a terrible Maryland team, in 2013
A loss to #125 Kansas
A loss to #71 Iowa State
He also has three straight seasons of teams completely imploding during the second half of the season. Hopefully, with an easier second half, this season, he snaps that streak. I'm not expecting a win against TCU, but a respectable showing there and strong finish to the season would do a lot to sway me...
If you got rid of every coach with bad losses, then good luck at finding anyone. TCU is the #4 ranked team in the country and the game is at their stadium so a loss is likely, but after that the schedule gets easier. The wins over good teams show that we can be competitive - we just need more of them in a season.
Holgorsen won a championship in his first year here against Big East competition and then destroyed the ACC champion in the Orange Bowl. Fate then assigned him the dubious task of transitioning WVU into a power conference full of great programs. Great programs with better recruits, better facilities, better fan support, great coaches, and championship aspirations. There is only so much a good coach can do and then it comes down to play makers. And in the Big 12 you have to have play makers at every position and WVU just isn't there yet and still making progress.
I tell you one thing Luck did that set him apart from other ADs. He sent the MAC staff out to meet with all the donors to find out what they wanted. That staff now does a really good job of getting things corrected and helping out any way they can. 100 times better than when Pastilong was AD.
Yeah, we know Luck pissed off Hank and Dave. They raised a fit and unsurprisingly, their combined 200K posts on the subject didn't make a difference.

Where is Shepherdstown on that list(EP)? Where is Charleston on that list? I played in it one year at the Greenbriar as well. Where is that on this list? Where is Wheeling on that list? Its not on the list because Ollie cancelled the program. So, they play one in the central part of the state for all the those donors but MAC golfs events that traveled is gone.
It's not that there are bad losses. It is that every good win is counterbalanced by a bad loss. It was exactly the same as what Stewart was accomplishing, and the recruiting was at an almost identical level...

when it comes back to the Eastern Panhandle let me know. We tried to plan one ourselves and no one from the University would even agree to show up. They said, "none of us play golf so no use to even have it". True story.

The golf events have been slowly dying for years....can't really blame that on Luck. I agree they were fun and I loved them but they don't raise the money like the used to. It tied up the coaches to much for the amount of return.
