Can't see Tressell getting the job. He's 62 years old and hasn't coached in five years, comes with a ton of baggage and would have to sit out the first six games of the season.

I know he's friends with Gee and won a national title but he did it with some pretty shady characters.

why do people keep bringing up 62? Bill Snyder is almost 80 and I would take him as our head coach in a heart beat. Plus, I couldn't care less if a guy is here only 10 years as long as he wins. I couldn't care less if we had another Don Nehlen and by that remark, I'm talking about a coach who stays at 1 program a lengthy time. Just win. Just want the next guy to win. Don't care if he's here 5 years, decade or 2 decades like Nehlen. As long as he wins.

1) He's served most of his time, he would almost for certain receive leniency and have final year of bowl prohibition eliminated.

2) With Dana leading the team, chances of making a bowl game are already very slim next year to begin with. Lose a lot from defense + same ineffective quarterback + harder schedule. OOC is no automatic 3 wins next year as it was this year. BYU, Missouri, solid Youngstown State led by Bo Pelini, etc. Texas Tech is gonna be far better next year especially with that young qb they have and winning in Lubbock is no easy challenge. Texas will only improve and that game is in Austin. Play at Iowa State who has show signs of life this year and Ames is no easy place to play either. KSU will be better next year because their track record proves that. They are having 1 bad year for the 1st time in awhile but they did lose some talented key players on offense last year. Oklahoma State will be much better under a more experienced Rudolph and that game is in Stillwater. Oklahoma will be tough with their qb having another year of experience, plus we have never beaten them in conference play. Baylor will be Baylor, high powered offense. We beat them in the past at home but it's always a challenge and they are going to have a high powered offense with Russell or this other young talented quarterback. TCU does lose Boykin but that will be a tough game.

Schedule is far tougher next year. Winning 6 games will be a struggle. Hell, winning 6 games has been a struggle past 5 years.

Jim Tressel would add 3 things to make us a legitimate program for the decade or so he would be here.

1.) The Ohio pipeline he has spent decades building could pay huge HUGE dividends the same way Mirimar and Maryland have given us great players over the years.

2.) We will have a prepared and disciplined defense YEAR IN AND YEAR OUT. Say what you want about Tressel and his conservative approach on offense. The man knows how to coach defense.

3.) HE IS MOTIVATED. You really think he wants his coaching career to end the way it did? Being fired because of NCAA bullshit and tattoos? On top of that, you don't think it stings just a little that Urban Meyer has already won a NC at Ohio St? What other program would give him a better chance to rewrite his legacy? Pitt already hired a new, defensive minded coach and I doubt VT goes after him.
