For me he (or she) must be an advocate for an expanded pigskin playoff.
That should be the top priority [thumbsup]

Must be an elite media negotiator for the new alignment and able to develop comparable positive exposure for the BIG 12 in addition to revenues going forward. Without that nothing else matters much.

Stop inviting AAC members and get to work on trying to steal some P5 schools from the weaker PAC or ACC. At least that would look good on the resume for TV contracts.

Big 12 is now the Big East repeat. How long before they crumble?

Have to be connected to TV Networks to negotiate the next tv deal;

He or she should also have inside connections to amazon and netflix for additional streaming revenues.

I would love to see someone like Oliver Luck involved.

Curious about NCAA break away- whats the benefit of that?
What’s the benefit of staying in the NCAA? NCAA is the biggest joke of any organization of all time. Here you have KU win the national championship and are caught red handed on violations….while OK St. watches at home because the cooperated….Penn St harbored Sandusky and should have gotten the death penalty for 5 years minimum, they get a fine and a slap on the wrist.

Look how they have botched the NIL and the transfer portal! Never getting that back in Pandora’s box.

So yeah, leave NCAA with SEC, create you own league with your own rules and bowl games and tournaments.

The Tigers will adamitely refuse to cooperate & leave the $EC because of the big $$$ difference.

The NCAA has been sued into oblivion. They can’t punish the blue bloods cause they don’t have legal authority to investigate anything.

The NIL— they should have allowed for the players to be able to earn like everyone else from the beginning- there’s no “ putting it back in the bag” because it’s illegal to keep the players from earning what they can. Likewise, if no one else is restricted from moving to a better job or another school, courts found it illegal to do that to the players. You cannot legally restrict them nor should you— they supposedly aren’t employees so therefore why would they be restricted?

No rules at all would be the creation of a semi pro system. It would have to be less restrictive to players, not retroactive.

NCAA would be better off paying players a huge salary and allow trading of players.

NIL has nothing to do with NCAA or the colleges. NIL is legal cheating for big money alums.

Previously the NCAA did not allow players to earn money- was restricted by the NCAA.

Now the NCAA cannot restrict players from earning NIL because courts ruled against them.

The NCAA will have to make players officially employees of the NCAA to pay them- they probably should do that— and then restrict the schools from paying separately which would end a bidding war. Schools could have a draft of NCAA players then and regardless of school the players would get same amount of revenue for their services.

Just no way you can invite any ACC team because of the humongous GOR.

1. TV negotiations
2. Expand playoffs
3. Expand B12 to 14 with EAST teams.
4. Make NCAA punish cheaters.

Look at picking up 2 to 4 teams from the Pac 12. Its a woke conference control by a woke state, with some unhappy schools. Work on the getting some of the following schools in the Big 12: Arizona, Arizona State, Utah, and Colorado.

Also, look at creating a Big 12 Network. Texas is out of the way, so it's time to start one.

We should have offered those 4 P12 teams before offering anyone else.
Then proceed (as we did) if they say no.
BYU + 3 (willing) P12 teams would have been ideal.
BYU was a smart add because of their national following (like ND).

WVU needs out of the crumbling Big 12. It's unfortunate they'll have to stay.

AZ & Azst would be good. Only one of Utah or Boise. NEVER Colorado. They bolted from the B12. 4th team needs.to be Memphis.
Absolutely need to start a B12 Network now that horns down is out of the way.

Where would we go? ACC blocked us 3 times. AAC or Sun Belt?
Which is why I said unfortunately we will have to stay. But it doesn't matter as in a few years there will be a separation of D1 teams from the other D1 teams. Those who have and those who do not.

Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick has been one of the leading voices in college athletics in recent years, and on Saturday, he dropped quite the prediction about the future.

Essentially, Swarbrick believes in around 15 years, the NCAA will look completely different, as Division I athletics will likely split, per Pat Forde of Sports Illustrated. Athletic departments could basically begin to operate separately from the universities.

Swarbrick, who is a member of the College Football Playoff Management Committee along with 10 other conference commissioners, sees schools falling into two camps: the current model which couples athletics with the educational pieces of a university, and athletic programs tied to the school only in name, doing away with the “student” piece of “student-athlete.”

The further athletics is removed from being an integral part of the student, alumni, and local citizen life reality, the less important it will ultimately become. Put a stake in it and move on.

Then the only thing that saves the B12 is if the (new) B12 becomes very relevant in football.
B12 qualifies a team to the pigskin final 4 every year & plays for the natty (@ least) 1/3 of the time.
Once playoff expands then qualifying 2 teams then advance to the final 2 (@ least once every 3 years).
Also the more relevant the conference is in football then the more $ it will earn in increased TV shares/team just like the $EC is doing now.

The Big 12 isn't going anywhere. Besides until WVU actually is good enough to compete for more than a mediocre result it is a stupid discussion. As far as the newly reconstructed league goes...dies anyone truly believe the Mountaineers are a better football program than Cincinnati...BYU...or even Houston?

1.) Not bury their head in the sand pretending everything is going to be ok while every other conference gets stronger.
2.) Push towards gaining some sort of control over the NIL/transfer portal deal. If kids want to be free agents, let them use their NIL deal to cover the cost of school. Otherwise, if they accept their scholarship, they owe some type of allegiance to the school. People act like the schools aren’t investing into these kids to be successful on and off the field/court. Many of whom would not have the opportunity otherwise as their academics are poor at best.
3.) Be creative with the next TV deal. Find a way to pool money into a conference NIL fund. The more money TV pays into it, the better the talent will be at the schools. The better the schools are, the more eyes will watch. Be on the forefront on this and find a way to make it an exclusive contract so not every other conference gets the same deal or better.

Good post.

The BIG 12 commissioner must find a way to gain more positive exposure from their network and media partners. They need to also enact a social media wing to combat the lies and disinformation continuously spread about the conference.

Forming some relationships with the NFL would also be a good idea, have to get some of the best talent into the league and improve the talent level so that at least a couple of teams stand out like a Clemson has each year.

With the new teams coming in and the existing schools having success against leagues like the SEC (5-1 vs. SEC in bowl season with K State, Baylor, Texas Tech, Houston and UCF recording victories over the SEC. Also BYU went 5-0 vs. the PAC. Success like that has to be pounded daily into the narrative to contradict the disinformation brigade downrating the league incessantly. 2 straight national championships in mens basketball from Baylor and Kansas and 4 straight final fours and three finals don’t hurt the image either. Not to mention strong ratings for a non UT- OU football CCG. Results like these must be used to promote the league.
