What benchmark would Dana have to hit for all the Dana haters to jump on the Dana bandwagon.

I have to admit that this year needs to be a good one for me to continue to support him as our coach. He is off to a great start though.

More than one game where he doesn't allow Howard to do a 6 yard QB sneak/dive when the de-line is stacked to stop a one foot attempt.

Win the conference. Anything less, I think the door is still cracked open based on lack of results as a whole. Finishing in the upper half is definitely a step in the right direction and I think I personally could live with that, but how patient do we need to be when TCU made a bigger leap and competed immediately? I was a Dana supporter from day 1, but that changed over the last two years as a result of a culmination of things. I wouldn't say I'm a hater though, I want him to do well. I've seen less mind numbing play calls this year but still think we should be a 60-40 run team with what we have as a total package. P.S. Losing Deforest also helped.

Hmmmmm. Notice that our special teams, this year, are not so special. Any connection? I wonder.

Big XII title. That can be outright or shared. This may be our best chance in a long time at one, and we are far from being on solid enough ground for that. If Dana managed 8-9 wins this year, I think he is on former ground than before this season started. However, we still need to win 2 more for a bowl, and 4-5 more for that benchmark.

4-0 is good start. Close wins. You bets. But wins. Only 16 unbeaten teams left, and WVU is among them.
Texas Tech, TCU, Oklahoma State, Baylor and maybe Oklahoma and Texas may be tougher competition than the teams WVU has played, although I give Kansas State more credit than most. I think K-State will finish in upper half of Big 12.

There are a LOT of mountains yet to climb. But I'm just enjoying every game. We'll see how far this train can travel. And we have a week to breath easily again.

9+ wins no excuses. There is no reason this team can't compete for a top 3 finish in the big 12 on even numbered years. Holgorson's teams have always started strong but always manage to hit the skids whether its in the middle of the season or towards the end. The next 4 games will probably reveal this teams destiny. All the teams we will face have good offenses and bad defenses just like are team. If holgorson can go 4-0 or 3-1 he will be positioned to challenge for the conference crown a 2-2 or 1-3 mark would probably mean another 7-8 win season and further doubts about his competence.

For everyone to jump on the Dana bandwagon he would probably need 10 or more wins this year. And if that happens, he is gone.

And that is sad, funny and true all at the same time.

It's obvious that there was some bad blood (and likely still is) between Dana and Lyons. If Dana gets 10 wins, then he will likely get a big offer somewhere.

It would take for him to

1. Crush his enemies
2. Have them driven before him
3. Hear the lamentations of the women

That's easy. All he needs to do is provide absolute documentation that he's the product of virgin birth.

All WV fans should already be on the Dana bandwagon. After all, he is the coach and will be the coach until the 'shiny shoes' decide to shut him down. 7 or 8 wins a year keeps him in a job until dooms day. We ain't got the money that it takes to compete for a NC. Clemson getting the jack from somewhere?

For the most part in the modern era of wvu football there has always been some sort of dissent. The only exceptions are maybe 88,93, 2005-07 years. When Nehlen took over in 1980 he had some instant success that looked real good compared to frank Cig. The 1st 13 years brought multiple bowl appearances and 2 undefeated regular seasons. After 1993 he was never able to reach those heights again but there was a feeling among-st a certain portion of the fan base that it could be achieved based on his past results. At the end of the Rodriguez years anything less than a BCs bowl was considered a disappointment by some. I think the biggest problem coach Holgorson has at the moment is there is a large part of the fan base who feel that we won't achieve anything better than 7-8 win seasons. Allot of these people like coach holgorson personally they just don't think he can get the job done. Now we are off to a 4-0 start and this Wvu teams looks as if its got as good a chance as any to compete for the conference championship. If coach holgs can avoid extended losing streaks this season and finish somewhere close to the top of the conference then it will help him gain confidence from some of his skeptics. He needs to create the impression that on certain years this team can make waves on the national scene just like Nehlen and Rodriguez did. There will always be those that will never be satisfied with anything less than a NC but every school has them.
