Not looking for names here, but more characteristics...philosophy...pedigree (coaching acumen)
for instance:
An Defensive minded coach who understands how to put players into position to make plays, and who has a "feel" for how to attack Offenses.
Or:
A disciplinarian who's a stickler for details... dots every (i)... crosses every (t) & who always gets his teams well prepared, energetic and determined to just get after it.
or
A brilliant Offensive minded coach who really understands X's and O's, and can manufacture points by using innovative schemes to get his playmakers the ball
or
A master motivator, who knows talent, can recruit his ass off, can raise funds, and knows how to generate interest & excitement in a program.
or
A great teacher, who gives his teams perspective, understands clock management, down & distance situational awareness. Gets his teams to play "smart" and always has a strategic edge or purposeful gameplan.
Now please don't say "all of the above" because just like shopping for the perfect home, you always have to give up something in order to get most of what you want! (sometimes it's location for a larger yard, or a smaller kitchen for bigger bedrooms etc) So given that we can't have the "perfect" hire, what does this board think we should be looking for to get what we need?
