I agree with taking note of what Huggs says. He is pressing.
But why is he pressing?
IMO, he is pressing because, as already noted, he is more regularly facing more athletic players ... AND he is trying to speed up his game.
Even when the competition wasn't as fierce DW showed a tendency to stand there with the ball before shooting, passing, or making a move. I can't tell you how many times I've said out loud, "Get rid of the ball!"
Others noted that he often held onto the ball a second or two too long. But as he has tried to speed up his game he is facing quicker more athletic players. And this is a problem. I think its a big problem.
I think the fundamental problem is that often, not always, but often DW isn't able to read/react to the game at game speed. He's either too slow or moves too quickly and then does the wrong thing. He just doesn't seem to be able to play at game speed.
I am sure that DW is one of those players that Huggs was referring to when he said that the guys need to learn to do what they can do and quit trying to do things they can't.
I think the answer to the question is simple.
But I don't know what the solution is. I guess he's just going to have to keep persevering and hopefully the light comes and he starts doing the things he actually can do and then he has to do them at the speed of the game.
