just got a notice that my insurance is going to go up from 1856.00 a month to 2260.00 . That’s with a 5k deductible per person ( 3 of us ).
Where or when does this shit stop ?

More people go on welfare or SS because they’re to damn lazy to work so I have to pay more . I’m so sick of this ....

Nothing like getting a dick kick from the mailbox.

End rant

Just drop the insurance........or divorce your wife.........that's what I've had people tell me when I complained about not being able to get my wife insurance because she was a diabetic (from birth) when we first got married.......

How old are you? Is there more than one of you with a lot of problems?

Were you going to college at the time? Did you not feel the world owed you coverage since you were attending college to improve your status in the world?

I dont know what our total is because we both get insurance as a benefit from work. I think we pay around 450 a month so WVU is probably paying another 1500 or more?

I’m self employed ..... not such a good thing sometimes

Been there, Steve. Was paying more than 16,000 a year, with 5,000 deductible, for family of five. Now covered by wife’s health insurance at work. If our politicians could wean themselves from the corporate teat, and make the health insurance companies justify their rates, might come down.

I’ve long maintained that if every Senator and Representative had to buy their own health insurance in the public marketplace, this problem of high rates would be solved pretty damn quick.

Good luck, man.

I wondered if we should do health insurance like public utilities, put a profit cap on them ? Don't know just a thought . I do like Congress getting public health insurance, or making them get VA health care , jyst who the hell do they think they are ? Anyways

Stop, you are sounding socialist..........[laughing]......health insurance is a privilege, not a right........if you can't afford it, screw you! As long as the wealthy and politicians have it, that's all that matters.........[thumbsup]

Sorry about your situation. To answer your question, I am fortunate enough to work for a company that covers my immediate family 100%. We even have a free clinic at the coal mine where my family doesn't have to make an appointment. Two NP's and two RN's five days a week. I can even call outside from underground and talk to the NP's and they will leave a prescription for me in the dispatcher's office for me to pick up when I get out from underground. I am fortunate.

If you do that you have to cap medical providers, medical tech providers and drug companies because they all collude with insurance companies to set prices and split profits.

Thanks to the union I belonged to for 41 years I have what is considered a Cadillac health plan that covers my wife and I and costs me nothing other than a small co-pay on doctors appointments and prescriptions.

Lol , I don't like an exploded government myself & I do believe Trump is doing a good job I think he is a cross of old school dem & new Republican, no I don't vote a straight ticket but do vote more repub than I use to ....on health care ....a mandate was overstepping government boundaries to me , something has to be done to stop the over pricing of medical treatment & the price gouging of health insurance, what ? I don't have a clue , just about 60% of our raises on our 3 year contracts go to health care .

It's a messed up thing ...i mean how can it be controlled & still allow it to grow under the traditional capitalism ideas that made it so great ..

Well maybe the health insurance companies will just one day realize that they’ve made enough money and start charging less.

& one day I will be handsome & rich ....
I hate all insurance companies they are legal thieves, & nothing will stop them they own the law makers . I don't have a clue how or what can be done . I don't want government health care I do know that

Do you think tort reform would help ? I mean the amount of profit they make is jyst redickulous.
First, having to run MRI for a 6 hour headache for fear of a 1% chance somebody has something seriously wrong just runs up overall costs. Expensive blood tests as a precaution for something that is rare, runs up costs. Defensive medicine runs up costs. Caps help. Anesthesiologist s got together and set up protocols for treatment and if you follow them, it's hard to win lawsuits. They were getting killed by malpractice insurance. Requiring hospitals to treat everybody runs up costs. Reimburse certain hospitals a monthly stipend for indigent care. Most hospital docs are reimbursed by hos.pitals for treatment.

Yea that would be a real shame to have to join the other 30 developed countries on planet earth. We are obviously the only ones doing it right.

I can’t tell if that question is a joke or not. My wife used to work as a paralegal. Insurance companies whole modus operandi is to not pay you what you are owed, that I can promise you. Otherwise, personal injury lawyers would be out of business overnight.

I'm pretty sure we have the best health care or very close to the best , & I have a real problem with providing health care for those that won't, thats the difference. .

“For those that won’t”. What do you mean by this?

It either has to grow and continue to draw the best and brightest by offering huge financial reward so it stays at the cutting edge or incomes in the field level off or decline and the best and brightest eventually go to the new highest paying field.

I have never had a good experience with any insurance company , seems they always try to cut corners & cost me more.
How many went bankrupt? Look at the natural disasters, if they were cash poor, they would just declare bankruptcy . Government is more of a rip off than insurance companies

In that situation they are an adversary and rightly so. PI is a crooked joke. It's never about what is owed but what is the least exposure. Caps on awards and loser pays would go a long way to stopping the rip offs that occur in this type of business

Start with tort reform. Then set up er protocols for er visits to keep costs down.

West Virginia has had tort reform in the way of limits on damages in med mal cases since the early 2000’s. Cap of $250,000 for pain and suffering, and cap of $500,000 for wrongful death, adjusted for inflation, plus actual economic damages proven. Hasn’t helped with our health insurance premiums. Tort reform by way of limits on damages simply punishes those who are most grievously hurt.

Ironic that the politiicians don’t trust the voters who put them in office. They take away our jury rights and substitute their political judgment for the verdict of a jury of citizens who hear the evidence from both sides and then make a decision. Tort reform has not lowered or contained medical expenses or health insurance premiums. Tort reform is a canard that lines the pockets of insurance companies, who are so powerful that they are the only industry not subject to anti-trust laws.

We had a jury decision here in Roanoke where a toddler was backed over by the baby sitters husband on a 30 year old mower. The babysitter had no money, the jury have a huge award against MTD for not having a shut off for the mower when it went backwards. Trouble was, it wasn't a feature 30 years ago. The judge didn't set it aside and, I have looked, it doesn't appear to be repealed. That's what's wrong with juries.

Ok, so if you have an antique car that was before seat belts became the law, are you required to still wear a seat belt or can you not be pulled over and given a ticket for not being buckled?

can the maker of the car have an award made against it for not having seat belts if it wasn't original with them? I think you missed the entire point

I understand perfectly and made my point clearly.
You made absolutely no sense to what was posted about jury awards. My friend was h r manager at MT D industries and the award was in the millions for a refurbished mower, 30 years old that the roll back auto shut off was not available. The idiot let the toddler out of the day care house and the husband didn't know the kid was behind him, the mower rolled back on the kid killing him. Complete travesty.

Yeah, but in your mind for whom? Sounds like your sympathy is with company......

they have no liability. The jury said that it should have a cut off but that feature wasn't available at that time. The people had no insurance . Just a terrible judgement against a company that was not liable

Assume for discussion purposes that it was a faulty verdict. An anecdotal example of a faulty verdict in that case does not mean that all cases should be restricted.
