--West Virginia head coach Neal Brown said it was their most intense work and first time they were in the stadium. Tackled for a lot of the practice and did a lot of special teams work.

--Tony Mathis was really solid today and Jaylen Anderson and CJ Donaldson made significant steps as Justin Johnson didn't get as much work today. Quarterbacks he doesn't want to talk about before he watches the video. Wide receivers were just OK, today. Reese Smith had a good day today and has been as consistent as anybody. The offensive line was good. Third downs the first and second group did some nice things and did a goal line they were successful and the two-minute.

--Lance Dixon was really active and he's had a good four or five days. Lee Kpogba did a nice job getting them lined up and communicating. Marcis Floyd showed up and did some nice things and Charles Woods had a really good stretch. Hershey McLaurin had a great day. Rashad Ajayi and Wesley McCormick had a strong day and so did Davis Mallinger.

--For a lot of it, it's not the entire first group because it's so personnel dictated to figure out the group you're going to play on defense and on offense what the rotations are going to be like.

--On special teams, this is by far the most athletic with able bodies and speed. Special teams competition drills with just athletic guys to get a feel for the best special teams players.

--Early in the year they play some difficult defensive lines, they are on the right people with communication. They've got to be able to sustain pass pro a little bit longer and have to get reps at short yardage and goal line. Window between now and next Thursday.

--Brandon Yates has come on at right tackle the two previous days and feels more healthy.

--James Gmiter is out but nothing that is going to keep him out a long time. They didn't do as much moving guys around in the spring but you don't know what your injury situation is going to be so you have to move some people around at different spots. They are doing some rotating just to see what guys look like. Doug Nester has gotten reps at center and tackle and can do both. A lot of that is credit to the work has put in. Jordan White has played center and guard.

--Even split with the quarterbacks when it comes with the drives. That will be part of the determining factor in deciding things. They have to start slimming it down at some point but they have four units going at all times. They are getting plenty of reps to get a lot of timing and would like to shift from camp mode to preparing for the first game after the second scrimmage.

--It's hard to play a really good team early but they are playing their first game, too. They didn't play very well in the opener last year and they changed some things leading up to it because it wasn't good enough.

--They're on the right path and have done a lot of good on good run games. They have good pieces on both the fronts and get those guys carries that haven't done it much in the game. They have different styles and he has been really pleased with CJ Donaldson. He's an example of how you play your senior year matters. He played slot receiver, running back, h-back and he's just a really good football player. Knew he loved football and that's where he's going to play at running back for now and he brings a lot of versatility. Not sure how much of an impact he'll make week one, but they are very excited about him in the future.

--Too early to tell if Mike O'Laughlin will be able to play week one. He has done group and indy work but not 11-on-11.

--Watching it today the secondary did some really good things. They wanted guys with experience to come in and play. Jasir Cox can play three different spots and Rashad Ajayi and Wes McCormick can play man or zone which isn't something they've done in the past. He likes those guys and Hershey McLAurin has really played well. Andrew Wilson-Lamp got reps today and he has the body type that you're looking for at the position as well as learning.

--Treylan Davis has made a big jump. Nicco Marchiol has made a huge jump from spring.

--Playing Sweet Caroline to get them ready for the atmosphere at the start of practice.

--Reese Smith didn't get to practice much in the spring and wasn't himself but he has ran well. His numbers on the GPS are very impressive with his speed and he's pushing in that wide receiver room because he makes plays and the quarterbacks have a lot of confidence in him.
