--West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins said they haven’t had a practice with the team yet. The team was disappointed after the Oklahoma game.

--Huggins said the truth is this team has been in position to win games, but hasn’t gotten/made a lot of breaks. They’ve had opportunities for sure to not be 0-5. At first, they’ve got to run offense and can’t get out of what they do but they need to make free throws which they haven’t. At one time they were close to 20 turnovers a game but they’ve cleaned that up. They are playing hard but every once in a while you need a break. To turn it around it’s a little bit of everything. Older, experienced players have to voice their opinion and make sure they are giving it everything they have as well.

--It’s the most talented team that Jamie Dixon has had since he’s been at TCU. They are like the Lakers used to be, they do a great job of running lanes and there are various clips of them rebounding the ball, out letting it and scoring a layup at the other end without the ball touching the floor. Dixon has done a good job making it an up-tempo style and he has really adjusted to personnel.

--Huggins said they’re going to try as best as they can figure out what best suits them. That’s going to vary on who you play and their personnel but that is something they’ve always done. It’s a situation where this whole thing is new to him when it comes to fitting the roster together. He wants to hang onto the younger guys and doesn’t want them to be portal guys. When you bring in so many different people it’s hard to put all of it together and it’s a lot harder than he thought it would be.

--Huggins thinks his team is close but they haven’t made the crucial plays the way they need to. Cites the play that Daxter Miles made to Jevon Carter against TCU to beat them despite they were young.

--Huggins thought the ball movement was better and people movement was better with the smaller lineup and they got better shots. Every game is going to be different and he can’t say that’s what they will do the rest of the year because it might not be the best thing for them.

--The question is are they going to execute what you ask them to execute?

--Tre Mitchell is at the five in the smaller lineup but West Virginia isn’t playing in the A10. There is a huge difference in going from a forward to a center in the Big 12. They have to make adjustments and it’s the hardest, best league in America and anything you look at has the league there. Huggins said that West Virginia has played the fourth hardest schedule in the country to date.

--TCU guard Mike Miles is terrific in transition and he will certainly play in the league because that style of play is sought after. He is as good in the open court as anybody they have in the league.

--Joe Mazzulla loves West Virginia, loves the basketball program and they have a good relationship. He spoke with him on the phone about what’s going on with the program and how they go about fixing it.

--Huggins isn’t sure how one fix can affect other fixes on the basketball court. One thing doesn’t necessarily make up for another one. The reality is they turned it over way too much early, but they shot free throws better now it’s the opposite. He doesn’t know if there is any correlation between them.
